General Retail/Restaurant News

I don’t like their sweet, cloudy, chunky beer (similar to my disdain for tea with chunks), but they’re a cool group. Hopefully they can get a better location. Even they’ve admitted that their location is both dangerous and not great. I’d like to think with their popularity, they’ll be able to afford somewhere else now. Although maybe they’re just doing poorly and don’t want a taproom. I guess we’ll find out together.

Never heard of this place and had to look it up, but earnestly curious why it’s dangerous - the flooding?

There are several nightclubs close by that are constantly involved in shootings and crime activity.

Anyone here been? I’m excited for anything new to open obviously, but the menu doesn’t excite me all that much - would love to hear from folks in this group how it is

Those of you looking for some decent cheap eats - here is a place to try. They have $1.50 tacos today and then every Tuesday. Granted the tacos are on the small side so you need to order several. But the hubby and I had a nice time checking it out and visiting with the Miami @John yesterday.

This place is a hidden gem - the drinks are pretty good, and I’m a big fan of all their non-taco dishes - mulitas, gorditas, sopes, quesadilla loca, etc - glad to see it getting a shout-out here, I hope it sticks around

I picked up 4 different ones for 6 bucks. Had a great time with @svp & G!

“Today and then every Tuesday” - so is it JUST on Tuesdays, why also today??

I honestly didn’t realize this existed, so definitely!

They had March Madness so the whole month of March was $1.50 tacos. One day left and then they continue with every Tuesday. Great question.

I went again today for lunch. While there, I peeked at the menu. Those little tacos are $3.89 each regular price. Even though they are tasty, I think that they are going to have a problem selling them for that price. They are good, but they really are small. I’ll be back on Tuesdays, but $16+ (including tax) for 4 tiny tacos is too expensive when I can go across the street to El Rodeo and get a lot more food for less money and also get free chips and salsa.

Edit on El Rodeo. I went there last Tuesday for Taco Tuesday and got 3 huge tacos for $9.99. It came with a side of rice and, of course, free chips and salsa. The photo looks normal, but they really were quite large.

I know it probably all comes down to margins, but even just charging like $2.99 for each taco would probably just have better optics and cause at least someone like me to order one more than I would at $3.89

that place has been around for a while and I have never gone cause it’s right beside el rodeo.. the tuesday thing sounds good but still would be more expensive

Genuinely this place is way better, much higher-quality than El Rodeo, unless you’re only shopping based on price

Get the tacos on taco Tuesday. Every other day make sure you get at least one quesadilla loca.

Yeah the best thing I can say about Rodeo is that it is a replacement-level Mexican place. I guess it’s nice to have a place with Corona and free unsalted chips downtown, and I’m not rooting for it to close, but it’s not noticeably less expensive while the food is noticeably worse.

I don’t think I’ve ever eaten there in my 17 years here because I had that impression. There’s always somewhere better. But I recognize a core group of posters here have a weakness for 1990s priced food, regardless of the quality.

I don’t know what this means, but I consider Rodeo as American-version of Mexican food. Its fine for what it is but just doesn’t make the rotation for me with so many other options now.

I guess by replacement you mean it’s like every other mexican restaurant you could find in small towns? in downtown there are many taco shops and higher end mexican/mexican adjacent options, but I am unaware of any that would scratch the itch of “hometown mexican”

tastes vary though and while I’m happy there are 10 options to get authentic tacos i’ll continue to enjoy my option for cheap mexican like acp/fajitas/etc with 24oz draft beers on the cheap
