There was a gal who worked salads at CV K&W, where ‘M’elp you?’ was the contraction of, ‘May I help you?’

We need this place to open asap here in Raleigh

Oh, they were all fancy with their proper English, huh? #nofun
I have really vivid and fond memories of the women who worked there and created their own English shortcuts, pronunciations, and contractions. Keep 'em coming.

I wager you’ll eventually see one of those in the coming mixed use developments in the queue…
Not bad for franchise-oriented food but I really like that Raleigh has an independent streak and hope that we maintain that as the DTR footprint continues to densify…

K&W is a hard one. Many trips to both the NH and Cameron locations from childhood. I actually took my mom there on my dad’s birthday this year. She’s going to take this badly, she has memories going back to her childhood with her mother and grandmother.

She also took Ballantine’s hard when it closed in the 90s, and she never ventured to the Capital room when it left Belks. Though for another slice of Red Velvet, I wish I had gone again.

I saw some contractors working on the facade at Royale this morning which I hope means I was wrong about it possibly closing, but could also just be working for landlord I guess. Fingers crossed. I’ve never been head over heels for their food but still like to see local businesses do well. And it has some of the same ownership as Stanbury.

Their mussel frites are pretty good and I’ve had the real deal stuff in Belgium. Too bad you can’t get decent Belgian fries in the Triangle.

Protest scheduled for Friday night, conveniently… Great for restaurants. Cafe Luna already boarding up…

Wonderful. Was planning on going to O-ku for dinner. Now rethinking this.

Great news for this spot. Still bummed that Oakwood Cafe closed, but this should be a solid replacement.

My experience was more along the lines of “WHOANT MEAT?!” and I’m honestly not sure if she was asking if I wanted meat or what meat; either way it usually caught me so off guard I’d just point to the closest thing.

10pm curfew now for Friday and Saturday nights

Any clue as to why they didn’t go into the Transfer space as originally planned? Still excited about Oakwood cafe, but curious what will go into the original spot.

Not sure. I do know the space was taking forever to be built out. Probably will work out better for them given the whole Covid situation. A good amount of outdoor space at the oakwood location for outdoor seating for just their customers.

Burial should expand there. They are not allowed to use the indoor portion of the food hall and they could use some indoor seating room.

Wasn’t this already open in downtown? Why does it say grand opening (or re-opening??)

I actually love the oakwood idea, it will totally revive that area in an amazing way. That spot in Transfer is always gonna be hot someone will nab it
