This is not surprising. I’m only surprised it took this long to come to that conclusion/announce it.
was there an announcement? or just heard it?
I’m sure it was quietly shuttered some time ago but Raleigh Today reported it today.
I’m not surprised but still disappointed. Such a great location, and both current restaurants have amazing food. Maybe the guy from High Horse can figure something out with some less wimpy investors.
I honestly think this has more to do with the turmoil behind the scenes, in regard to certain owners and managers relinquishing their positions.
Granted I’m sure it’s a perfect storm between NC’s corona lock-downs, to the recent scandal which resulted in management/ownership shuffle to banks being gun-shy toward lending for large restaurants.
Is he even still in Raleigh? He had joined Vidrio, but not sure he’s still there. I haven’t been back to Vidrio since he joined but I recall seeing a part of the menu dedicated to his offerings a while back.
That’s what I had heard last. Haven’t been out to eat inside much recently, but have been meaning to go there and check it out. High Horse was fantastic, and is the second saddest casualty of this pandemic (behind the millions of actual people).
We had dinner at Vidrio where he basically had his own section of food items on the menu that all were delicious - But that was in September 2020
Heard recently that Katsuji ‘has something in the works’.
Seems like he’s still in RAL, friend of mine says been doing this InstaVlog about moving from LA too RAL last year and what’s ‘crazy about it’…FWIW

Did anyone mention this yet? Sam Jones is open for business. Yay!
I drove by earlier at lunch and still saw numerous contractor vehicles, so I think it’s very close but not quite serving pork yet.
I live nearby and two neighbors have sampled the offerings (rave reviews), but I’m not sure if they’re officially open yet.
Yeah I mentioned it in another thread. 5 hours after you did lol! Because I was too excited and didn’t check the new threads first
They even made a typo in the street name
“Lenior” vs “Lenoir”
The CVS downtown looks to be near re-opening from what I glimpsed this morning.
I wonder if the building’s original brick facade still exists underneath the exterior they have going on right now (painted metal, I think)? Would be cool to see it restored.
(Not a current picture.)
I wish that was a current pic… summertime, scooters, nothing boarded up…
Is the CVS actually going to reopen? It was barely open before, and I had just assumed it was closed permanently, and any work being done was to make it ready for a new tenant at some point.
It has been remodeled inside and delivery trucks have been there all week. Should be very soon.
I’d love to know what the original first floor looks like. I wonder if there are any historical photographs out there on the interwebs?
The original detailing of the first 3 floors is very cool. That could look great, modernized, on a new tower.
