Did the remodel include getting rid of the blacked out windows and actually allowing some light to peek in from outside? Because I have always hated how uninviting and pedestrian unfriendly it has looked since… forever
That CVS will gain customers just by renovating, even with downtown offices still mostly closed. Can’t express how awful the experience in that store was before. It’s got a new lease on life!
Just went in Sam Jones to place a pickup order for later tonight, and they are definitely not 100% open lol!!! I think I upset the guy a little bit with my persistence. They were sold out of chopped barbecue, so I have smoked turkey and ribs instead.
I was talking to him about the press that they got, and they were not too stoked on all of it. I think they took their online ordering down and removed this location from their app. Yes Sam Jones has an app.
Weird. Why are they not excited for customers? I’m excited for them!
Wow. They did remove the Raleigh location.
Guess they’re not used to the ‘big city’ yet.
I should rephrase. I’m sure they are excited for the press and the customers, I just think they were trying to do a soft opening but it’s turned out to be more stressful than that.
We ordered for 640pm pickup at around 300 today.
Got BBQ, chicken, mac & cheese, cornbread and some banana pudding.
The bbq and chicken are very good. So is the mac and cheese. The pudding was on the small side for the price, but I’ll chalk it up to first day opening issues.
Looking forward to ordering again in the future.
This is totally NOT what I was expecting to see.
Couldn’t agree more. Nothing made me more happier than when the DGX opened. It was kind of weird to have so little options in terms of a convenient type store for drinks/snacks/random stuff. I also use to hit up the small shop on the lowest floor of the BB&T.
A building under construction that we missed? We are all off our game! If they have been building that side restaurant, we need a pic quick.
Going in the old Person St Pharmacy Cafe spot.

I didn’t think that we missed the building near the long leaf. It looks like they took all the construction materials down. This makes perfect sense.
Ok this makes more sense now. Good article, thanks for sharing it!
“paragraph marks”!? Yikes.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that noticed that little blunder.
Either way, I’m glad to see this deli coming along.
FYI… Imurj live music venue is permanently closed and Whiskey Kitchen took over the lease.
