Update.
Remind me again what’s going here
It’s going to be an indoor/outdoor bar/restaurant type establishment I think.
It’s the outdoor portion of the bar that goes into the old devolve moto (to the right in the picture). Partnership between Cornerstone and Milk bar owners if I remember this correctly
Maybe this is where the Cornerstone patrons will land when their current site is redeveloped?
So there will be a giant layer of cheese on top of these building when finished?
More dollar store fake ivy wall accents incoming.
It seems Raleigh Magazine was reading everyone’s minds. They made an article on the changes coming to Glenwood South and they describe what’s happening in the space from @OakCityDylan 's photo from above. I’m sure this’ll set off some people but it looks like the Rockford is getting redeveloped by the Cornerstone guy…
Riding that wave, Oak City Group’s Dan Lovenheim has leased The Rockford. We’re told the man behind Cornerstone, Alchemy, The Avenue, and Pearl & Peril plans to convert the upstairs space to an upscale extension of Pearl & Peril, with little renovation to the interiors and doing away with the food. Cue the debate.
Stretching his reach, Lovenheim is also reportedly opening a new concept at the Devolve space and is leading construction on the empty plot of land between Devolve and The Rockford, slated to take shape as a two-story bar with a rooftop. We also hear he has plans for a fourth new concept on the opposite side of Glenwood Avenue near the escape room.

Devolve-lution of GlenSO, say it ain’t…?
Dan is quickly making a monopoly on Glenwood and I give him a big two thumbs down for doing so.
If I had to pick a side in the Glenwood clubs arms race, I’d rather see the Kenner Group winning. Their stuff seems a tad bit nicer, IMO.
We’ll see which style wins out since the Devolve and adjacent space is a Collab between the two…?
The only spot of his that’s somewhat bearable is Alchemy…and that ain’t saying much. Glenwood seems to get more sterile every year, and he isn’t helping. Gonna miss The Rockford.
Glenwood’s fundamentally going to be the relatively bland party zone for State kids and early 20-somethings. It’s fine, a city with as many young people as ours needs to have one of those.
The question is, where does the corresponding hub of interesting, more adult-focused drinking establishments emerge?
The correct answer to this question should be Fayetteville St. I wish it was.
But in reality…who’s actually consistently (young or old) going out on Fayetteville St in 2023? In my early twenties when I first moved to Raleigh I used to hit up Neptune’s, Coglin’s, Anchor Bar, Capital City, and Architect alot.
Nowadays Coglin’s and Capital City are closed (Zenith just ain’t the same), Neptune’s is always packed cause there aren’t really any good options left, it ain’t worth going to Fayetteville St. just to hit up Anchor Bar, and Architect is…well, Architect.
Damn, dude is really dead set on making Glenwood Ave as douchebag-friendly as possible, ain’t he?
You missed the best one: Foundation. Literally the only reason I go to Fayetteville St outside of public events/festivals.
I actually stopped by there and took a peek last time I was on Fayetteville St. a couple months ago (never been there before), it was pretty dead-looking atm tbh, but the vibe seemed chill. Definitely been meaning to check it out one of these days. Any particular night(s) you’d recommend?
Love Foundation. Haymaker is worth a stop thru off Faye St…
It’s my favorite bar in Raleigh. Been open fourteen years, boasts a super chill and knowledgeable staff as well as some solid cocktails. Recommend going on a slower night and sitting at the bar so you can chat with (and learn from) the bartenders. Sundays evenings are usually great for that kind of experience. Fridays and Saturdays can be fun, but it can get pretty cramped and loud in there, so be prepared for that.
