Highline Glenwood and 404 Glenwood at The Creamery

Wow…if this, RUS BUS, and 400H overlap in going vertical, gonna be an exciting time!

Is that building going where Cornerstone Tavern is starting soon as well? Quite the change for Glenwood South!

I’m staring at this land right now and wow what a defining development that will be for GWS

This would vibe really well with Smoky Hollow just a block or so away. Color me a fan if that’s the direction they go.

Yeah, that parking deck wall. I’d love to see an existing example so I can set my expectations. From the site plans, you can match the numbers to the materials legend so we’re looking at concrete, metal mesh, and some invisible material (6) that isn’t labeled. Assuming it’s a numbering typo, it’s “AL. Glazing” Aluminum???

@John absolutely agreed on the monstrous parking deck… of all projects, this one truly calls for a living/green wall - it would actually vibe really well with the historic look of the Creamery mixed with the neo-industrial look of the towers. But yeah… if it’s just gonna be a big concrete/metal screen… YIKES

I recommend Kudzu screening for Glenwood South…
C’mon…Let’s work with what we’ve got!

Maybe it will look like stucco?

I found a rendering of the parking deck. What do you think?

I noticed that too. “7” is just calling out the glass part of the aluminum storefront system, so that definitely wasn’t their intention.

Just guessing here, but I bet there was another material there that they removed and forgot to delete the keynote for. In that case, the “6” keynote shouldn’t be there at all, and the hatch suggests it’s just all a metal mesh screen in between the precast structure. That said, this is clearly early and they’ll probably articulate it a lot more.

Is anyone able to explain why they use elevation as compared to height?
Is that a standard practice? And can it be “translated” to feet?

Thank you in advance! :+1: :hugs:

Don’t be so negative.

I’d love for them to have billboards, augmented reality screens, or a green wall. They would all look good in that area, especially over the old Creamery portion in my opinion. If it is interesting enough, it could be a local tourist attraction.

If the back of the convention center can have the shimmer wall, then that wall looming over the Creamery is just screaming for a public art installation: digital or otherwise.

@trueurbanist agreed - There are many reasons Raleigh’s sign ordinance is great, but sometimes I really wouldn’t mind more signs/billboards - especially if they could be designated to advertise locally owned businesses or events. Imagine a big “Dreamville Festival Returns 2022, tickets now onsale!” billboard with their awesome artwork on one of these big blank walls/parking deck facades. I certainly would rather see something like that than just blank concrete.

I’d be happy for more interesting murals on blank walls. The cat mural is a great example. The ugly beige wall behind it is a great example too…of what I don’t want to keep seeing.

Just dreaming here, but I think it would be really cool if the mechanicals on the roof of the Creamery could be restacked so that a rooftop terrace could be created for viewing sporting events, movies, concerts, etc. that would be projected on the side of the parking garage.

Nice idea there. My small request is can they get rid of the horrid Precision Hawk signage on the Creamery? It looks so incredibly tacky and out of place on that building.

I hope we get a rooftop ice cream shop in honor of Pine State
