…and it’s not even at a 3rd of its final height

It’s not even a 1/4 of its final height.

Crazy. Easily the most skyline/density changing development in as long as I’ve lived in NC (18 years - I moved here essentially just after PNC, then RBC tower had completed and opened, so it has “always” been here for me).

Yeah same. I visited 18 years ago and it was under construction at the top. I watched in on the webcam because I wanted to move here. I’d love something taller than that downtown in my lifetime.

9th floor is being poured now. It’s getting close to 1/4th.

This entire Creamery project is one that I am most looking forward to since Smoky Hollow. This is especially true given my disappointment that Smoky Hollow largely focuses inward and feels removed from Glenwood South. While The Creamery has a lot of their retail along the Alley (from their website), the entire storefront of the tower facing Glenwood is retail, and the plaza between the tower and the historic Creamery building does connect Glenwood to the Alley. It’s going to be the next step in transforming the neighborhood with more walkable, urban opportunities. No doubt that the landlord isn’t going to lease to a bunch of late night drinking establishments.
I also love that the retail spaces are smaller than in other recent projects. We need more small business sized spaces downtown.

Wonder if they keeping options open to swapping out the office portion with another residential tower over the parking deck/retail base at the northeast corner at Tucker St?

I have also thought about if they may scrap the office and put in a hotel in its place. Though I completely agree, more residential won’t hurt at all.
