Looking for some supporters of this project in short order. Please message me directly as soon as you’re able. Thanks!
Planning Commission has voted to recommend approval of the rezoning of this project.
Woohoo! My email to them worked! @OakCityDylan is the puppetmaster tho
YAY!!! Thanks to the dozens of people that reached out to me to participate in support of this request!
(it was like 3)
I see this on the Jan 19 council agenda already:

This will be on the Public Hearing agenda for the Feb 2 at 7p City Council meeting. Anyone interested in speaking or even just emailing support for this project pls message me.
This rezoning request was just passed and was unanimous.
Actually had to cancel my plans that were preventing me from signing up to speak tonight. Out of curiosity, I tuned in about 30 seconds before you started speaking. Nice job! You made this happen. You should get free butter or ice cream for life (whatever they used to make at this Creamery).
Excited to see this pass, and unanimously!
I’ll have to watch the youtube
Just listened to Dylan’s 55 seconds of fame.
I will say, I don’t disagree with 40 stories being problematic on the small 400 Glenwood parcel, but let’s see how this plays out. In reality, I don’t have a concern about a pencil thin building, as voiced by Glenwood South Collaborative president, but I’d rather have that type of building off that corner and in the back of the property against the rail line. But, it is what it is, and I’m pleased that the overall project can move forward.
BTW, 55 seconds is really like 5 seconds in reality.
Yeah, it goes by very quickly…and tiny homes.
I love that MAB gave me props for sliding that in there.
I was going to slide in a comment asking what CACs were but thought that’d have killed the Tiny Home comment.
I listened to the public comment segment of the meeting at the beginning and thought it was interesting to see how the pro CAC crowd is now using a white privilege angle to admonish the council for abolishing them. Frankly, given the NIMBYism that has come out of the CAC process, one could also easily call white privilege on wanting to keep them in place.
The council better get their ducks in a row to implement the public engagement program or it’s got a real problem on its hands. I agree that voices need to be heard, and optics/narratives take on a life of their own when a void is left unfilled, pandemic or not.

It is projection. Old money white landowners were the main folks involved in CACs and they are just using southeast raleigh as a human shield so they can be total sycophants.
Restricting the supply of housing does nothing to make life more affordable for people. Quite the opposite.
Yeah, well, I was trying to be more balanced in how I posted my comment, but I agree wholeheartedly with you on this.
Can’t wait to see some renderings for this site. It will be interesting to see how tall they actually decide to build. But will hopefully add even more residences to Glenwood South.
Oh man, this is nice!
You almost lose the actual Creamery building in the second picture it’s so small in comparison!
Beat me to it! Haha was just about to post the link.
Absolutely transformational for that area. Takes it from “this is kinda downtownish” / edge of downtown to absolutely part of downtown
So it looks like they are going for 32 floors?
