Click the gear when you’re creating a post to create a poll, but that seems like it could be a LOT of different answers, unless it’s broken down into a US region instead of state?

If growing up is until 18 years old, then 2/3 west coast (OR & CA) and 1/3 Raleigh.

Where would I even get started on this? I’m getting pretty close to living equally between Nebraska, California, and North Carolina equally.

This sounds like the Bay Area market when I left in 2005.

I remember a coworker buying a small house in San Jose’s Rose Garden district for $250K and thinking that it was priced outrageously. That was probably around 2000.

And it’s probably worth 4x that now.

I think this one may be it.

So, from the late 90s, it’s more like 5X.

Yet another proof source that California is, in fact, another world…
And, don’t get me wrong - love visiting there as it’s a truly special place.
Much respect to those who shoulder the other worldly madness of making a life there and easy to see how when they ‘cash out’ to move elsewhere, their cost / value structure is markedly different if they’ve decided to head to a smaller market like ours.

I have started counting the California license plates around lately. About 20 yesterday

My childhood home that my parents bought new for $21,000 in 1965.

Yep. Just had good friends end a three year search for housing in the ‘Bay Area’…
They finally settled in Petaluma. Quite the real estate adventure out there.

My childhood home: 1059 Rembrandt Dr, Sunnyvale, CA 94087 | Zillow

1400 sqft, $2.1M. Too bad my parents sold it in like, 1976.

Insane price! My parents sold their home in Los Gatos for $38,500 in Jan. 1974.

Just had a couple down from Brooklyn walk by our place this afternoon looking for the “office”. I stepped out and gave them a warm Raleigh welcome. They’re looking to move down here and they said they aren’t looking anywhere else. Staying at the Origin Hotel. I wanted to be their tour guide so bad. LOL

Clearly they’re looking to rent. Did you point them to The Dillon or Smoky Hollow? I’m sure that they have “offices” there.
I’m sure your beard and one wheel made them feel at home.

Looking to buy, but she’s interested in setting up a retail shop so I did refer to Smoky Hollow from that perspective.

Maybe it’s a NY thing, but an office to purchase? It sounds like they’ve never owned before, but maybe it’s done differently in Brooklyn.
Glad you pointed them in the right direction and were neighborly.

I say office, they actually asked one of my contractors that were outside effectively where the office is. They were going to the Lynde “office” show room, whatever to have a meeting so I guess they assumed the lobby/office/whatever for the Fairweather might be around. lol

Are you sure they didn’t have really out of date information and were looking for this place?
