Anyone have any idea of attendance for the event and how it compares with past years?
I know it is a pretty big deal and I even heard a little of someone’s set on Thursday, but I’m wondering how Hopscotch compares to other large music events.

Not confirmed festival-wide, but two venue owners/managers I know said it was a record breaking Hopscotch weekend for them - most clubs were at capacity for most shows every night. The main stage crowds seemed normal, until Saturday night when St. Vincent went on. Pretty sure that was the most amount of people I’d ever seen packed into City Plaza.
I’m not a music festival guy, but the energy around downtown was palpable. My Way and WillCo were both packed with people wearing wristbands on Saturday night.
Thanks. That is great to hear!
I dug around a little and found an article that said prior years had about 25,000 attendees, but didn’t give specific numbers.
This past week I saw a guy walking down the street in Portland (Oregon) wearing a Dreamville T-Shirt.
Anyone know what event is happening today on Fayetteville St.? I was driving back from Lidl just now and the roads are blocked off but I don’t see anything on the DTR Alliance calendar for today.
Its a Food Rodeo thingie
Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo
Fayetteville Street
Saturday, September 21
Event Time: 12:00pm - 6:00pm
Associated Road Closures: Fayetteville Street between Morgan Street and the south end of City Plaza, and Hargett, Martin, and Davie streets between S. Salisbury Street and S. Wilmington Street will be closed from 8:00am until 10:30pm.
Food truck rodeo. I think starts at 4.
DRA has really been dropping the ball with this calendar, lately. I know someone who has repeatedly submitted downtown events to be included on the DRA calendar and they never put them on it.
That’s frankly pathetic.
The Raleigh Tamale Festival is also happening today in Moore Square from 2-6pm
Lots of events going on around town tonight for First Friday. Weather should be really nice as well.
if only a couple of more of you went they would have topped 1,000,000 visitors to the State Fair. Look how close they were. (and yes many people take cash only there so be prepared next year) This was my first visit in 20 plus years and I had a great time and will return.
Not any of the good ones lol, and fewer every year, happily.
This was my 15th fair btw. I was prepared.
Just over a 1000 short of a million wasn’t a couple more days. That could have been topped in the regular schedule!
That’s too bad. I hoped it would be an annual thing Raleigh could look forward to and depend on. Hopefully we’ll replace it with another equally as fantastic and beneficial event.
Narrator: “They did not.”
