Large Events and Festivals

You’re right, it might be harder for brewgaloo since there’s a lot more logistics involved. The kegs and ice were being transported with a golf cart which was driving mostly on the sidewalks. Once you get a wide enough alley between the tents for the carts, you’re probably left with a small gap between the fronts of the tents and the curb which would be awkward to navigate and potentially problematic from an Accessibility point of view. Might be a good reason to explore turning Fayetteville into a curbless street as part of the new streetscape plan.

Without the logistics associated with a festival like brewgaloo, I could see “backstage” access as less of an issue. Events like Falling for Local at Dix seem to do fine when they set the tents up back to back, though I’m totally aware they have a lot more space in general to work with.

Gotta turn those tents!

No. They’re better this way. Nothing is open on the weekends until night time.

That’s awesome. Going to check it out tomorrow hopefully when we’re back for the meetup photo walk. That picture of Raleigh is fantastic. It’s for sale I assume? I would absolutely buy that if it’s there tomorrow.

Fourth of July fireworks display moving away from Dix to Lenovo Center.

Personally, not a fan of this decision at all.

What was the reason given for this decision, if you know? It doesn’t make much sense from my perspective, either.

Wasn’t very clear from the WRAL article. They made reference to the disappointment from last year, which had nothing to do with the location, but its likely some complained about getting out of Dix when it down poured unexpectedly.

They also said they won’t be doing all the vendors, performances, and whatnot anymore. It will only be fireworks.

I also meant for this to be posted in the Dix thread so apologies.

Yet another citywide decision made to prioriize the car.
The best years IMO were the ones where the fireworks were actually downtown.

Yeah this seems lame across the board. I’d honestly be a little happy just because we could walk to the fireworks from our house, but we’ll be out of town visiting family in NY. Say what you will about downtown Albany, they have some great July 4 fireworks.
