Longleaf Hotel (former Days Inn)

Or a movie theater! :movie_camera:

Oh lord, here we go again. I think we’ve repeated this nearly exactly convo a few times in this thread.

Or how about both! A water feature that doubles as a screen for a movie theater!

Maybe they will build a Fountain.

Actually, SH3 makes more sense for a mulitscreen theater. You can have first floor retail topped by a floor of theaters, and then topped with parking levels. All of this would be against the noisy Capital traffic where the noise doesn’t matter and the theaters wouldn’t disturb adjacent buildings or its own occupancy on higher floors.

It truly is an idea spot for a monumental fountain.

I say level half of Caswell Squares old buildings and something monumental there!

How about a water fountain and a downtown library (this picture is Cary)

Looking at the site plans I can’t for the life of me figure out where the stairs are to get to the second floor.

Where we’re going we don’t need stairs!

There has been a lot more activity at this site lately. Good to see.

They are taking bookings for 2020 now.

Looks like they’re trying a bit of a retro vibe.

Now if they could have done something badass like Durham’s unscripted Hotel (a remodel of the Jack Tar Hotel that operated in the 1960s)

That huge parking entrance ruins that shot IMO. Not that Longleaf is any better.

Rooms seem to go from between $119 to $179 depending on date, how you book and room type.

Also, to feel complete, I think the Longleaf needs Ish to open ASAP. I’ll ASSUME that Longleaf has no real food service and Ish would offer some kind of service to those staying there. Again, just assuming.

Off topic. When my daughter was younger she thought the Day’s Inn sun logo was the symbol for Raleigh since that is that she saw heading into downtown from Capital. There is another one right when you exit the belting on WF Rd (which is our exit to head home coming from east.)

I’m assuming it was temporary because of the Moon, but when I walked by last weekend they’d roped off the area between the parking gates and added seating and planters directly on the pavement, with a little stand to buy a beer. It was actually a pretty cool little active space.

There’s a big patio to the left of that entrance and Neomonde to the right, it really doesn’t seem that pronounced when you’re on the street level.
