Not that this comes as a surprise but they confirmed yesterday via Instagram they have extended opening date to “Late 2019”
I speak Raleigh Grand Openings. This means Spring 2019.
(Any opening announced more than a month out is doomed to fail.)
Do you mean 2020?
Yes. 2020. My Raleigh Openings as a Second Language is clearly rusty.
Frankly, I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around the idea of it being the 2020s soon.
I’m excited for an entire decade of Roaring 20s themed marketing and events. And to finally have a decade with a name. The way people can picture the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s…but I feel like I’ve been living in an endless limbo since 2000. In my head 1995 was 10 years ago.
I agree. Saying “the aughts” to refer to 2000-2009 never felt right. I think everyone collectively decided to just say “the 2000s”. Saying “the tens” for 2010-2019 doesn’t feel right either.
Well let’s just hope we can say the great new Jewish deli Ish and cool boutique hotel Longleaf opened before the Roaring 20’s!
Zero has happened on the Deli in the past 30-60 days from what I can see. I thought someone said they were starting from scratch. Looking forward to this whole property being reborn, but I don’t see it opening this year.
They keep posting things on Instagram about how they’re opening soon.
Well they better get the lead out then. I see work going on, but like a truck or two there. LoHoGoSlo.
And three weeks pass and it’s hard to see any progress here. Sorry for being a pessimist on this project.
So I had a beer with the contractor for the hotel last week @ Mordecai beverage in the refurbished Gateway place and he didn’t say anything I would deem as a negative. Neither of us knew each other and I didn’t pry but he said his firm was doing the project. Can’t imagine he would have been as upbeat had the project been floundering.
Thanks. Good to know. Hope I’m wrong.
Just went by there tonight. Nothing has been done. They keep posting vague marketing images of hangers and coasters and flowers on Instagram but nothing real. Very weird situation. Reminds me of Durham Food Hall where they act like it’s moving along on schedule but nothing has moved in months.
I’m hearing reports the development group in charge of the Gateway project is also doing this Hotel.
I herd they are having cash flow issues and once Gateway is complete (mainly HQ) this Hotel project can get the full attention it needs.
Happy to report that on my drive by today, there seems to be some activity at the site and the grass has been trimmed up, etc.
Oh yeah, this is a thing. almost forgot.
For real. It’s like it’s better if this languishes and then some deep pockets swoop in and rescue us from this project and put some quality density there.
Or a majestic fountain!
