A large chunk of the trunk is in the bed of truck parked in the lot behind the architecture firm’s office directly across the street. Hopefully someone will put it to good use.
Farmers market is coming back Sunday, under different management https://www.instagram.com/p/C7m0xcMPhtX/?hl=en
Doesn’t really seem like a farmer’s market is going to be part of it at all. Pretty disappointing to be honest. At least Raleigh city farm has their produce for sale, but it’s not really in downtown
Yeah, I feel like we don’t need another mish-mash market—we get those at festivals and first Fridays and other events. But an actual farmers’ market, like the one Durham (and even North Hills) has, would be so useful
I figured fresh produce vendors would get grandfathered in, but idk
Oh boy. A tcotchke market. Hooray.
Mish mash market works well when executed properly - ours all tend to be kind of meh.
San Luis Obispo’s weekly downtown Farmers Market is the stuff of legend, for example - https://www.instagram.com/downtownslofarmersmarket
Walked by and confirmed no produce vendors yesterday. In fact it barely had any stalls or attendance… This is their first week so I’m sure it will get better, but it doesn’t look like it will be very useful for downtown residents
I was at a wedding in Savannah back in 2011. It was at one of those famous squares with all the live oak trees and spanish moss. Forget which one. After the ceremony, some of us were standing around talking (but nobody was seated) when CRASH a giant mostly horizontal branch from one of those trees, must have been at least a foot in diameter, came down and crushed an entire row of the folding chairs.
It was a calm, sunny day. Labor Day weekend. No warning. It was quite shocking. If the ceremony had been a hour later it would have been tragic.
You really don’t want to mess with dangerous unhealthy trees in busy public gathering places.
Caught this today. Looks like there’s some prelim work on moving the building from city market here.
How many homicides in Raleigh in 2024 so far? How many of those in Downtown? How many of those near Moore Square? Seems like people are fixated with crime here but all the homicides seem to happen in the suburbs.
I have no idea, but I also have no idea what the crime stats were for 2023 either.
RPD has 15 negligent and non-negligent homicides so far in 2024. 32 in 2023.
Feels like a change in topic? I’ve never envisioned being murdered in Moore square, but I’ve definitely felt uncomfortable in the area…
I really do wish the hours were enforced in Moore Square.
A post was merged into an existing topic: Municipal Services and Safety in DTR
Cool more “hodgepodge of random materials vomited onto the side of the exterior” apartments lol - at least these are supposedly going to be “affordable”
I’m pretty sure these are supported by the City of Raleigh’s housing fund and the whole building will be affordable - between 30% and 80% AMI if I recall. Private developer tho, just using public funds and programs for low costing housing.
