Lets hope if this was your last one @Boltman, that same karma rubs off on @OakCityDylan. I am sure y’ll would love to be “home for Christmas”!!
Tie GSO with what…?
When I see GSO, all I think about is the airport.
I’m from Greensboro. Not a bad place but that downtown does not compare to Raleigh at all.
Maybe everyone else is just playing, but maybe some are confused. I think that GSO is supposed to mean Glenwood South.
Raleigh’s skyline is twice the size if not triple of Greensboro
I think @Unique12b means Glenwood South.
Ohhhh I see now. Tie into Glenwood South.
I think that a small footprint, slender, infill building with 2 condos per floor (each with 180 degree views) would do really well in Raleigh, and I can imagine a building looking somewhat like that. These would be expensive condos, but I think that the market is big enough now to support that sort of project.
I’m from Greensboro as well. But we moved when I was two weeks old.
You are 100 percent correct
I never really liked the concrete but it’s definitely unique
I did an internship with NCGS in 2001/2002 in the Archdale Building. It was in rough shape back then, I have a feeling that nothing has changed since then. While I hate to lose a “tall” building, this is one I wouldn’t shed a tear to see go.
Love the PS2 building. It’s not some kind of masterpiece, but I like the uniqueness of it.
Does not connect with street. That’s my issue with it.
If the Death Star was a state government building…
I actually LOVE the idea of Sony buying it (or sponsoring it) and it becoming an E-Games facility post government use.
While I’ll agree more density would be nice in this area, Wilson’s Outdoor Equipment needs to stay. This is literally the only place downtown or anywhere close that sells and services lawn equipment. Granted some of the stuff they sell is a little overkill for the downtown market, but everything they sell is top of the line (Exmark, Stihl, Echo). They’re great people that have been there for decades, and I believe they own the land it sits on, so I doubt they are going anywhere anytime soon.
