Possible New Development Locations and Projects - Rezonings

Sorry guys I couldn’t get the Raleigh meeting uploaded

Was this approved or not?

They haven’t even had their 1st neighborhood meeting which is required before they can submit for the rezoning request. I wouldn’t expect to see a council decision until after the 1st of the year.

I hope if they build something substantial here the design is rock solid. It’s going to appear in all the money shots, especially since it’s next to the shimmering wall.

I hate tásese neighbor meeting I think there stupid.

I would say they’re only slightly better than the CAC meetings, which isn’t saying much.

Well then we best make sure we all get out and vote for the right candidates come November, or else we risk a new Council Of No…

GoTriangle is selling their warehouse at the corner of Lane and Harrington. I had to hunt for it as the article doesn’t exactly pinpoint it.

That version of commuter rail never happened, and now GoTriangle, the regional transit agency, is putting the property on the market, with a minimum asking price of $10.13 million.

Sounds like everyone is trying to get rezoning issued before the new council steps in.

Neighborhood meeting cites ‘participant’…singular…

I unfortunately don’t think there another council meeting, but this shows we will be okay during these 2 years of performative wokeness.

Ye we need to give as many fu’s to the new council members before they take over.

Hey question where in the city council website can I see development items were passed.

You can start here depending on what you are looking for, https://raleighnc.gov/planning-and-development

or this dashboard has been helpful before: https://openmaps.raleighnc.gov/development-dashboard/

Looks like the surface lot at 113 West Davie Street is trying to get 40-story rezoning. What stuck out to me is that the group behind this rezoning request is the group behind the Nexus rezoning.

Paul Mack from Morningstar Law Group, who is representing the property owner, Babak Sotoodeh, in the proposed rezoning said Sotoodeh has no immediate plans for development of the site.

The 1.75-acre site currently has a 5-story parking deck on one parcel and the rest are surface parking. The total assessed value for the properties is $16.87 million, according to Wake County property records. Sotoodeh acquired the properties over the years. He acquired 416 S. Salisbury from the city in 1998, 417 S. McDowell in 2010 for $947,500 and 113 and 123 W. Davie in 2013 and 2017 for $1.5 million combined.

Sotoodeh has a history of buying office buildings in Raleigh. He has owned the Truist (NYSE: TFC) building at 434 Fayetteville St. since 1993. In 2017, he acquired the former News & Observer headquarters building at 215 S. McDowell St. for $22 million. In 2019, plans were revealed for a mixed-use development, called The Nexus, on the McDowell Street property. The project, which received a 40-story zoning earlier this year, includes up to 2,425 residential units and up to 1.44 million square feet of office space.
