Raleigh-area Mall / Life-Style Center / RTP Redevelopments

I’ve accepted that Glenwood and Crabtree Valley are never going to urbanize the way I would do it if money and power weren’t objects, and honestly it’s tempered somewhat by the Midtown Exchange plans (if they stay the way they’re currently planned) and the absolute bonkers growth of North Hills.

Yeah not even close to what’s in the renderings. I’ve been meaning to walk through those woods myself before the rest is all cut down.

  1. I am Gucci, and I’m not urban. I live in a residential neighborhood.
  2. That’s not how you spell Louis Vuitton. It’s okay, though; you got Gucci right.
  3. How does putting designer stores there make it urban? It’s a mall and some surrounding office buildings and apartments with parking lots.

I can go to all those stores at the Short Hills Mall or the Houston Galleria. Not at all urban.

The Cardinal tower will be very prominent from Wake Forest Rd by Whitaker Rd. It’s already above the tree line.

Looks like the Fenton is starting to announce some office tenants now. Been impressed how fast this thing has garnered tenants.

I did not realize there used to be a Sheraton here. Does anyone have photos when the Sheraton used to be there?

I’m glad to hear there will be ground floor retail.

Welcome to Disappointment Gulch, been there, done that. Google yourself “Clairmont Crabtree”

Actually a 7 story building with retail on the ground level is a huge step up compared with what usually gets built around these parts. It actually has me a little more optimistic. Hopefully it addresses the creek and greenway nicely.

There’s a new crane going up on the Lassiter side of North Hills

Wow they do those fast. Yesterday afternoon they were just setting the base.

I was about to post this same picture. Just went to North hills for the first time in a while. There are three cranes up in North hills, and five up inside the belt line. Crazy times

I think there’s 4.
Cardinal
Innovation
And 2 in the main district

Here they are from a different vantage and on a nicer day! Snapped quickly before the traffic started to move so didn’t have time to zoom in.

Driving home today I counted 4 cranes in NH. The 2 above where the JC Penny’s used to be, one at the Cardinal, and one at the Innovation District.

Not a ton of new info, but an article about the North Hills expansion. I did learn that Restoration Hardware will just be a showroom with no checkout, and I can take my decorator with me. Because obviously I have a decorator…
