I remember someone posting the plans they proposed to the council on here, but I can’t remember where they are. I know there was a lot of disappointed people as they removed connection to a Cary greenway (if I recall correctly).
No renderings, not even a site plan yet - just a block diagram. Latest filing from Dec is here:

But there’s no need for an adopted plan to proceed with demolition. Having a moldering million-foot box isn’t good for anyone.
Cary’s council sent them back to the drawing board for submitting such a disappointment of a development plan. Quite emphatically I might add. One of them, Jack Smith, likened Epic to “The Emperor with No Clothes.” They, or their architect, or both - were clearly out of their league on this one.
OH HELL YEAH! First time Cary is giving pushback to a developer for an actual good reason, aka not because something wasn’t beige enough lmao
I believe they also own a few houses behind their building on the next block. There was a time the rumor was that a 1/4 - 1/2 circle building was to be built behind the round branch and that would have been their HQ. But instead they bought the old Cameron Brown / can’t remember the telecom company bldg and took it down to the beams and made it their HQ instead.
BTI. I believe they were the one’s that took the building down to the beams.
I believe you are right. FCB gutted the inside and fancied it up. I don’t believe BTI ever owned it. I think Highwoods did and FCB bought it from Highwoods.
Where all the telecom companies of yesteryear?
I reference MCI and WorldCom all the time, but I forgot about BTI.
Drove by the Cary Towne Center this morning, the former Sears building has been demolished. The rest of the mall looks intact from the outside (Belk’s building will not be demolished at this phase)
I wonder what the plans are.
Looking like a city from the distance. The new construction on both sides is going to make such a difference.
There are 4 cranes hiding in this picture alone!
Looks like the grand opening will be in June with all the retailers open by then.
They had been saying April 1 as their official opening for awhile now. Guess that didn’t quite work out. Still excited for this overall.
We gonna get some updated footage from out there?
Anyone?
A little bird told me the Whole Foods on Wade Ave is moving across the street to a new large format store in a mixed use development in 2023-2024, in the corner that is currently unused by Meredith. Current shopping center to likely be razed, though no idea the ultimate goal there.
Interesting. Just looking at google maps right now, and that land isn’t really any larger than the current Ridgewood. If the store is going to be a larger format, might we be getting a new center with an integrated garage to enable more retail space on the parcel?
I honestly have no idea. This was just someone who heard about this recently who is on the inside track. I have literally no other information, but I’m cautiously optimistic that this will happen.
Should this be our slogan?
I had no idea this was there, but it’s dead obvious on Google Maps with the satellite view on Old Wake Forest just north of the future Midtown Exchange. What a charming red barn.
