Yeah but also so many cool cities around the world. How are we ever gonna compete with Paris and Tokyo’s high end food scene if they won’t give us a shot?
Well, the whole Michelin rating thing was started as a manipulation that now favors Michelin’s own country: France. The guides were first created to get the French driving from place to place across the country so that they would have to…wait for it…buy tires more often.
Now that the guides have become the de facto authority on fine dining, the fact that France has the most starred restaurants is “proof” that they have the best food in the world, tires be damned.
Yes they can. I actually worked in a restaurant in Belgium that had had a star the year before I worked there, but then lost it. Maybe it was my fault?
The guy that opened Hawthorne and Wood in Chapel Hill had a one star restaurant in Napa before he moved here–that may be as close as we get for now lol.
This is a little bit different than what I usually think is a “neat development”, but I like how this new development looks like it’s going to provide an additional biking trip alternative outside of Raleigh mainly via a paved greenway. https://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/news/2022/11/04/knightdale-development-homes-hotel-retail-shopping.html

I’m hoping the city of Knightdale pushes for a greenway type infrastructure on McKnight Dr. I’ve biked out to meet up with some friends at Prime Barbecue. I was ok going through the neighborhood, but did not care for riding on N. Smithfield Rd.
Not every day you see a suburban project that actually builds out the grid. This actually looks like a fairly walkable, pleasant neighborhood. Close to bus service as well.
The TopGolf development in Durham is also getting a Andretti Indoor Go Karting
Looks fun, but I’m really looking forward to RushHour Karting’s new location near the airport. It’s going to be the largest indoor facility in the country I believe, with a 2 story track! It opens December 15th, and I will be spending a lot of time here.

Yeah more excited about this too. Especially since they’re a business formed in NC!
This is around my neck of the woods (Morrisville)!
Also, further up the street they’re building a very large bio-pharma campus. Then, going the opposite direction (towards Morrisville’s town hall), they’re completely redoing Morrisville Carpenter Rd.
Lots of activity in this area!
good training for doing delivery jobs in the triangle
Hate to say it that’s a future Gucci, Louie Vittion, Norman Marcus location. Question: does a city have a say in them coming or not. We know well here some NIMBY moaning and complaining about that but still right.
Thanks for the photos. Remind me again what goes on in the upper floors of these new buildings please. Are these residential? Are these office?
Mixed use I think, but bottom will be retail. That why I’m flexing Gucci,
No, the companies determine where they put their stores, just like any other business. We’ve been through this before with you.
Unless you’re talking about the city starting a Bring a Gucci Store to Our City campaign… Which if that’s what you think should happen, by all means start going to city council meetings and speaking on its behalf. And please bring some appropriate entrance music.
I suggest Eminem. It’s been popular for CC entrance music in the past.
Here we go again
