Raleigh Bikeshare

There is no affiliation with The Cardinal in North Hills. There’s a bird called a cardinal and that’s what the name is from. No company sponsorship.

@Will, not sure. I asked the person that told me this was happening as they might have known, but they did not. I’d suggest pinging the program management company. I’m surprised either they didn’t try to get a replacement sponsor or nobody stepped up.

Pendo Pedal? (I stole that, sorry :bird: )

that comment was 100% in jest and I was thinking about the bar on West St but I guess the assisted living community could work as well.

Could have the handle bar grips be hot dogs. Wouldnt be tacky in the slightest!

If I’m them :hotdog:, I’m claiming sponsorship :100:!

Maybe Cardinal Gibbons over by PNC could throw in some money too…

Or we could upgrade to Gucci bikes once all the Gucci stores start popping up in every new development downtown!

If the name is Cardinal, does that mean that we can now flip the bird while riding?

There is a bird emoji…characters…

Did Citrix own the previous art design and that’s why they no longer have the oak leaves/squirrels/cardinals? That was such a perfect addition to them being part of DTR.

We might be getting these cargo bikes from Bewegen for Raleigh’s bikeshare system. Bewegen at least hinted at it.

We hope to see our longtail bike on the streets of Raleigh!

Now that is super cool!

I’d be curious to see how they deploy them in the system and what kind of actual usage they get

I might use it to get to the Publix as I live by Transfer Co. as it’s quite the walk but not far enough to justify driving.

I’d take them to get to and from a 100 (RDU) bus stop with my luggage.

Bringing back this thread as I’m curious what the community thinks of the expansion of docked bikeshare systems in the Triangle. The Town of Apex is currently seeking info from bikeshare vendors on a possible system within the core of the town while they reconstruct one of their public parking lots on Saunders St. It would be a small system at setup, with the town identifying three possible locations at Hunter Street Park, the municipal complex, and the downtown core.

Here are the proposed locations:

For reference, here is a map of current coverage and stations in the Cardinal Bikeshare network:

That’s a bit of a large gap to bridge without bringing Cary into the network (seems like a logical next step ) but maybe, one day, we could have an integrated bikeshare system across the entire region?

I would like if we can get one at the mall. I have my bikes so realistically I’m good, but I know we’d use them when the family is in town. With the number of hotels in the area, it would give visitors the opportunity to explore the trails. Once North Hills is directly connected with a good bike path, I would like to see one there.

To build on this, I think that we should be looking to expand outward incrementally to destinations and density that also has good bike infrastructure. While direct/on road routes are my preference, I can also see leveraging paved greenways to these locations as well.

i have had an ebike for over 6 years. i can say that they are great for short errand trips and the one i have now i can usually carry about 40 pounds of groceries. also nice for recreation as the smooth out all the stop sign to sign stopping hassle. i don’t know what the taxpayer would pay for an ebike sharing rack but you can get a quality one now for around 1700 dollars…financing available. decent bikelanes still help the cause however.
