Ok, if the hill you choose to die on is some website’s internal metrics that at best purports to be looking at a fraction of all jobs in the country, have at it.
I think there is room to explore how we can spread the bounty that is accumulating in certain areas of the state. But starting the discussion with a questionable unsourced evisceration of NC seemed a poor opening statement.

Edit: I reduced it to US cities to compress the info. But encourage to download the report to understand the criteria. All it took was to provide email address
If you count where we are compared to our population (presuming it’s going by CSA), we punch near our weight. If data is going by MSA, we are punching way above our weight.
Charlotte USA is definitely punching below its weight in either case. Clearly, and despite Charlotte’s narrative otherwise, we are in the same league as them.
The league that many like to put us in is completely missing from the top 100 including: Memphis, Louisville, Richmond, Birmingham, Jacksonville, and Norfolk/VaBeach.
Shockingly missing from this list is: Detroit, Cleveland, Indianapolis, and Cincinnati, all of which are larger metros than the Triangle.
I think reason a lot of cities sited as missing from 100 list it the ranking takes a lot more into consideration than population. I’m not surprised that a lot of them do not rank in 100 best. Look at Shanghai which ranks lower than Raleigh.(I think it was hurt by almost no green space, pollution and other quality of life issues). Ranking has a lot to do with quality of life as well as other non population metrics.
Yet there was a lot of complaining about races in DTR blocking streets. Go figure.
They changed the course for City of Oaks and Rock N Roll is completely gone (good riddance). I have run many half marathons (and one full) in Raleigh and Durham, and running Raleigh is way better IMO (Durham is hilly AF!!)
I’m thinking of making my own City Ranking site.
The grueling criteria will include the number of micro-breweries, if they have an amazing new library downtown, and you got to have spectacular water fountains. Hmm what else should we consider.
