First Citizens is accusing HSBC of orchestrating the mass resignations of dozens of former Silicon Valley Bank employees to launch a competing venture banking unit.
WalletHub has Raleigh listed as the 3rd healthiest city in the USA.
Among the 4 metrics, we ranked 2nd in fitness (our highest rank) and 121st in Green Space (our lowest rank). I find it hard to believe that we are 121st in green space. How can a city with an extensive network of greenways, an abundance of parks, a huge state park within the city limits, and the largest park under development in the entire country rank that low? I’ve looked at their methodology and there are definitely places where we can improve on that metric (walkscore and bikescore for example), but it seems as if there might also be a problem with how our metrics are managed and reported.
I imagine none of the Greenways get listed under Green Space, so likely just a flaw in how things are categorized. I agree though no way is that right.
DFW is… beautiful? Really? Like, which part? And South Bend? SOUTH BEND??? I guess if they’re including Michigan City maybe?
Like, Hickory, okay, and Knoxville and Pittsburgh for sure. I love Greenville but I’m hopelessly in love with that town so my glasses are a bit rosy there.
Grand Rapids is, kind of okay? I guess? The west bank of the river is nice and has nice views, but it’s hemmed in by multilane highways. I feel like GR has more potential beauty than actual beauty. Louisville is, like… there are some nice neighborhoods but it isn’t a “beautiful” city. St Louis has the Arch I suppose, but most of the actual city is empty and depopulated. It’s about as beautiful as Youngstown, honestly (which is underrated as empty, forelorn wastelands go). I haven’t spent much time there though so maybe I’m being unfair. And I’ve never been to South Bend, but…
But DFW I just can’t see. I’ve spent enough time there; everything is an hour from everything else and it’s all flat suburban mash stretching beyond the horizon in every direction. Where is the beautiful part? Dealy Plaza? The reservoirs I guess?
Seriously I don’t usually put Raleigh on my list of “beautiful” places where I’ve lived, but I’d rank it several dozen spots above DFW. San Antonio is prettier. So is El Paso. Heck if you just like acres of flatness, Lubbock’s okay. And Abilene has the mesa south of town with the windmills on it.
Well, part of that metric is hiking trails per capita. If our greenway system is not included, it would surprise me. Then again, what do they consider the act of hiking?
Distributed internationally.and kind of blurred but what expect from a newspaper picture.
The story it’s attached to is not very flattening but written in a light heart way.
This is an angle I dont even think of, much less see. Very nice. Can you give us a synopis of the article? I jad no idea we’d made The Economist! That is rarified air!
