The whole shot is even nicer with the SECU building to the right. I appreciate how much more “city” this angle has become over the years, not even including any of the “Big 3” on Fayetteville! And just imagine how much more dense and “big city” it will look in a few years with RUSbus tower(s), the municipal campus, whatever becomes of the 201 Morgan St lot, the forthcoming 30-40 story apartment tower(s), etc!
Y
ep that picture angle was what got me to read the artificial.
Headline " In North Carolina a jilted husband can sue his wife’s lover"
It’s about NC being one of the few states having what they think is an arcade law allowing a man to sue another for telling wife away…
The City of Raleigh’s water came in third place in an international contest for the best drinking water . The “Best of the Best” Water Taste Test was recently held by the American Water Works Association at its Annual Conference and Exposition in Canada. Water Taste Test | Raleigh drinking water ranks third best in the world - ABC11 Raleigh-Durham.
All the bottled water I drank in Europe seemed way better than the bottled water I drink in Raleigh. This doesn’t seem right.
Oh wait, they mean people drinking tap water. Gross.
they lying like hell
Lots of high praise for the Triangle and North Carolina in general here:
Good for business usually means bad for workers. We have some of the lowest paid college grads of any state and we have a generous population of them.
Cost of living is still pretty low. Your quality of life making $100k here is very comparable to someone making $150k in coastal California (minus some of the scenery!).
Raleigh gets a mention from CityNerd once more, for once an honorable one.
This time it’s a Union Station top 10.
Wait till they see our 2 story bus station with vacant ground floor retail and 1 story of homeless people in cardboard boxes on the roof*. That’ll change their minds!

that’s cool to get a shout out from a blogger, but DIOS MIO the guy hosting this youtube channel has the

he’s unwatchable. ugh.
Yeah, he’s annoyingly smug.
He speaks perfectly for 1.5x speed idk what you’re talking about
I’ll have to try that the next time I watch one of his videos.
That’s just kind of his “brand,” definitely not for everyone but he’s doing some good work. Genuinely a nice guy who wants to make some change, and he’s starting to work more with local advocacy groups around the country and use his large following to their advantage.
Raleigh named a top move-in destination
Raleigh is named one of the top 20 destination cities for movers, in a new study from PODS Enterprises LLC.
In its third-annual study, portable storage firm PODS ranked Raleigh No. 20 on its top 20 list of cities people are moving to. It’s the first time the City of Oaks has appeared on the list.
Raleigh was ranked this year due to several factors, including home affordability and its booming job market, the study said. Charlotte came in at No. 16 on the list followed by Asheville at No. 17.
“PODS long-distance moving data shows that Americans are continuing to move to cities in Florida, Texas, Tennessee, and the Carolinas in droves,” the report says. (Biz Journal 7/18/23)
I guess we’ll see if the Florida migration cools off a bit since some insurance carriers are going to be pulling out of the state.
Homeowner’s (and in particular flood/windstorm) insurance continues to be the rapidly growing crisis that the state government is ignoring in favor of its woke culture war.
A bit of a mind-blown moment seeing Wilmington Street on the main Chelsea Twitter
