Raleigh In The News around the country/world

I am sure that didn’t help any.

Article mostly positive about Raleigh. Main negative being car dependency but the author coming from NY it’s definitely at the other end of the spectrum :slightly_smiling_face:.

:joy: I was just telling my wife about that last night. She was surprised she has to drive places because she’s used to the NY subway… I mean, yeah, welcome to 99% of the country. Her saying that the party scene isn’t downtown and you have to go to “a different neighborhood, like Glenwood South” cracked me up… That is downtown dummy!

But she lost all credibility with the closing sentence:

"it’s a bummer to look at the skyline and see it full of cranes. "

She must think that downtown is just Fayetteville Street. That’s rich coming from someone who used to live in NYC.

So, she did no research before moving and she has no clue how those tall things in NYC were built to begin with.

Discredited.

…has she… even BEEN TO NYC???

So, let me get this straight, she wants a subway but not the density that enables it? I suppose that she also wants low taxes and the subway to be free?

How is that a legit article? Serious question. I know Business Insider is sort of a joke magazine but there is literally nothing informative at all in that to the point I’m not ruling out it is just AI Slop

the author was simply trying to hit the (character minimum)

Yeah I actually just read the entire article and it is entirely pointless lmaoooo

“COVID refugee from NYC wishes Raleigh was more NY-like”

Biggest shocker was that she’s allegedly in her twenties. If you say so, girl!
I mean she WRITES like it but I’ll just leave it at that LOL. I appreciated her pollen pictures though. That honestly is a lot to adjust to every spring even for those of use who’ve been here awhile!

It’s telling when you have the local news reporting tips for residents to be safe when these federal agents come to town. If they aren’t here to promote safety then why are they here? Food for thought if you are neutral or support this maneuver or the individuals commanding this maneuver, which i doubt includes many that frequent this forum.

Oh I dare say no one much is neutral these days. Nor should they be. This is outrageous and unacceptable disregard for human dignity and rights. I can’t believe this is the country I live in.

And so it begins. The terrorizing of our city by Trump’s goons.

Already saw reports of restaurants closing. I wonder how many construction sites will have no shows this week.

Ghost town this morning at Kane’s Platform Phase 2. Except for the white guys. Welcome to the new American.

These thugs are not welcome in our state. No one has requested this invasion. Hispanic kids and their classmates are afraid of this terrorism. People doing honest work are afraid to show up, affecting their families (and the economy, such as developers). OUT OF RALEIGH.

Someone on Reddit posted that ICE vehicles were slowly cruising down St Albans this morning.

I guess that Kane hasn’t given enough money to Trump, even though he’s hosted Republican fundraisers, and donated his own money?

To be fair, he did give $25 to one Democrat.

Probably didn’t donate to the new White House Epstein Ballroom.
