I personally loved taking on the 'Bunch of Jerk’s mantra for the amount of time they did.
Just need to find a new way to irritate Don Cherry and we’ll get it back.
Nah, don cherry is irrelevant now. Canes don’t need anything from him.
I gotta agree with you here - walking around the city, you’d hardly even know we were the home of a potentially Stanley Cup winning professional hockey team…
Based on that guy’s history, it seems that wouldn’t be too hard.
An interesting read, especially if we want MLB Major League Baseball to Raleigh.
I agree with the main thesis of the article. You can at least make an argument that MLB, NBA, and NHL facilities are appropriate for a city b/c they are smaller and have more events, but in general football stadiums should be in the suburbs b/c they are huge and don’t host many games.
Not really sure what this has to do with MLB to Raleigh, other than some very high level concepts, such as the paragraph about how the Nationals stadium anchored some revitalization, which I guess you could argue for Raleigh.
Charlotte usa seems to be doing rather well with a downtown football stadium. Nobody will ever suggest Auburn, Notre Dame…or even UNC move their football stadiums to the burbs
Nashville will be building a brand new stadium…guess where?
Flipside: The Bills are officially building their new stadium… in the parking lot across from the existing stadium in Orchard Park, 20-30ish minutes outside of downtown Buffalo, where it has been for … decades and decades. They initially were looking into a downtown stadium, but the traffic concerns and incredibly high pricetag that they would’ve requested the city/state to fund turned em away - that, and the fact that most Bills fans wanted the stadium to remain in Orchard Park where it has essentially always been.
To each (or city) their own.
There are a lot more suburban locations of NFL stadiums than one might initially expect there to be. Miami, Dallas, SF, Washington, NY, & Buffalo all have their stadiums in the burbs. Teams like Philadelphia, Kansas City and Houston, while in their cities, aren’t downtown.
In fairness to Philly, they have all of their major sports stadiums in one giant campus right outside the city. I went to see Radiohead’s (thus far) final two shows at the Flyers arena and you can see the entire Philly skyline from the parking lot (which is ABSOLUTELY ENORMOUS btw, as it’s a whole sea of parking meant for all 3 stadiums: Phillies baseball stadium, Flyers and 76ers arena, and Eagles stadium)
And who can forget Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium mega-complex with fake boats and water which is home to the most boring Formula One race all season. Sunday was super boring just like last years race.
Although the 76ers are planning to move to Center City: https://76place.com/
Practice and Qualifying were more exciting than the race itself Sunday.
KC Chiefs and Rovyals stadium, while in the city limits, is very suburban and in a huge parking lot.
The Patriots stadium in Foxboro MA is closer to Providence RI than it is to Boston.
Do they have all kinds of F and B entertainment on campus out there that Dundon is wanting for PNC? Im guessing its also an easy rail hop from the entertainment areas though so that negates the need at some level.
Oh F**K no, there’s nothing just a MASSIVE OCEAN of parking lot lmaooooo
