I’ll be honest, I think wearing zombie Whalers gear is weird. Taking their team wasn’t enough pain?
It’s one of the best logos in all of sports, maybe anywhere.
That’s a perspective. Perhaps keeping the brand alive and an ode to the history of the team is a more positive spin?
Meh, I don’t care if someone thinks I’m weird for wearing my old sweatshirt. I went to more Whalers games than most people reading this have been to Hurricanes games. You must not go to the home game each year where the Canes wear the Whalers uniforms?
Honestly, what value is there to keep repping the whalers? Why is that still a thing? Move on people.
I mean, I get it I guess, but the (incredibly cool) H is Hartford’s thing. Like it stands for Hartford. And if I saw a Las Vegan wearing throwback Oakland A’s/Raiders gear I’d think they were a huge poseur.
The American pro franchise model is weird. Anyway, that’s my last derail on it.
Look cities actually build stadiums downtown and break ground on them!
Crazy isn’t it, and we can’t get our shit together. Steve what the hell are you waiting for.
$800 million in tax money might kick start it!
Lol a billion dollars for a USL stadium? Hard pass
It probably has to do with the number of New Englanders who live in the Triangle now.
Ha! My neighborhood in Pittsboro is full of Northeasterners, some ex Floridians, and obviously Californians. All Democrats who think liberally but will not part with a dime. Keeps taxes low I suppose.
That why Downtoen Southshpuld go PNC route and try to attract MLB Tran and be luto purpose shoot they want Inter local fees well Dan but Steve Malik include that in the package or else this delusional idea for just NWSL is bogus.
Centennial Authority has 3 meetings in 3 weeks. Could there finally be some movement on arena renovations and mixed-use developments around the arena?
I wish some way, some how , that we could get a minor league baseball team at a stadium in Downtown South! Not sure if The Atlantic League will end up in Zebulon or Wilson but I sure wish that it would come to The Downtown South Project!!! It seems to me that NCFC has given up on a Downtown South future Soccer Stadium . Raleigh deserves a Professional Baseball Team I think! What do all of You think?
Definitely, Major League Baseball go higher. The best league we need that top tier. Nothing else!
Some cities home to Atlantic League teams- Lancaster ( PA ), Center Islip (NY), Waldorf (MD), Charleston (WV), Gastonia (NC). Really the only prominent city with a team in the league is NYC, but then you learn it’s actually really Staten Island. I’m a pass.
Generally agree, but any summer sport that didn’t require driving to Durham would be nice. It’s a long time between the end of college baseball season and the start of football/hockey season.
Hey , Forty Percent of The Atlantic League Players have playing time in Major League Baseball! The Atlantic League is a Partner of MLB. MLB rates them AA Level of playing. High Point is in ALPB.
Zebulon is just past Lizard Lick! At the end of the day, we are who we say we are. If downtown Raleigh wants to be an Atlantic League stop, so be it. But I won’t advocate for it.
