Hopefully, Andrei Svechnikov will stay healthy all regular and post season for this upcoming year so that we can have that Stanley Cup parade on Fayetteville Street…
You are just a Debbie downer I think you should not comment on the sports section of this page. Or if you don’t like it, just don’t go to Canes games. We got to the 2nd round of playoffs. 2 ECL appearances in 4 years, we have one of the longest games on history. Go away, Phil.
That’s the price you pay to watch a good team. And even if that’s the case and it increases to $40, that’s still likely among the cheapest in the league.
Can’t say I value $20 to see a bottom feeder as the same as $60 to see a first place team. Watching the same sport but I’ll pay the premium to watch a good version of that sport.
Also pointing out the absurdity of the “McDavid money” comment- he will very likely make $15+ million on his “big” contract when he signs in a couple years. Guys sign contracts at different times so the money is always changing. So saying Aho is going to be making “McDavid money” is like saying Jesper Fast on $3 million per year is making Aho money.
Edit: also adding, and tying it back into the general topic, that I would fully expect parking to go up even more anyway with future development. So get ready to pay $50 to park in a parking deck at PNC soon!
As others have said, your numbers are dumb and kinda give away that you don’t know what you’re talking about. Also, player salaries have zero impact on all of these factors anyway. Right now and for the foreseeable future, the Canes are a cap team so will spend to the cap no matter what. If Aho only got 8 or 9M per year, guess what, they would go get someone to improve a roster position with that extra money freed up.
Am I to understand you’re a Sabres fan?? Yiiiiiikes. Sorry dude.
I’m letting you know, for no particular reason, that this forum has an “Ignore User” feature where their posts don’t show up. It’s improved my experience.
I understand their is little causality between player salaries and ticket prices but at the end of the day it is the fan or “consumer” bank rolling the entire thing. Didn’t mean to upset so many people with my hypothetical price of Storm Brew (which is disgusting btw).
We have one pro team here in Raleigh that happens to be among the favorites to win the whole thing this year. There is virtually zero chance anyone in this fan base is upset about re-signing it’s best offensive player long term.
Don Waddell and his team have become the envy of fanbases throughout the league with the way they operate around the cap in free agency and the way they scout and draft.
As others have said, I will also gladly pay a premium for a hell of a product on the ice. And I’m sure others don’t care enough to do that, but our attendance would indicate enough people here sure do.
Yeah, that seems a little janky, I don’t like what could happen. He was supposed to help the MLS bid he didn’t, now he has his nose in the Courage something doesn’t feel good. Goodman could be a NIMBY also, we’ll have to see. And yeah while I add to it he owns the Bulls yea MLB could come to Raleigh the downtown south stadium could house them and the Courage, and even Professional Lacrosse League and Major League Cricket and maybe MLS it would be multipurpose like the PNC arena. At least I think that’s the smartest idea. Also I have to mention the failed NFL bid In Raleigh, and I don’t know if I should trust him.
I wouldn’t think that an NC Courage buy would mean a move to Durham. Remember, Goodmon originally wantsd to build a park near RDU but the Mudcats vetoed it after the Bulls vetoed the Mudcats wanting to build in Raleigh.
Corporate support was the #1 issue….& is still an issue. Raleigh has the only billionaires in the State but none of them care about the ego move of owning a sports team.
