Raleigh Stadium/Arena/Sports Discussions

Judgment Day 1997 (#4 Michigan @ #2 Penn State; #3 FSU @ #5 UNC) was the only other time Game Day was in the Triangle. It’s now come to all three schools.

This image is new, at least to me. Sorry if it’s been shared.

Beautiful, thank you! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Now, time for truth, where did you get this and what country is it located?   :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I mean it’s the ideal location, Raleigh gave the TIG let’s see if the hotel & tourism tax regenerate to help fund the stadium.

I really like the Old Cargill plant location. There’s ample room for redevelopment, and good access for drivers and opportunities for decent transit connections too.

LOVE that site plan. If this ends up happening in this location, I really hope it gives regional rail a boost.

Wow! The Millennuim Falcon says, “play ball!” But really. That looks awesome.

Literally nothing in this image will materialize as is shown, it’s completely hypothetical and none of it has actually been legitimately planned to happen. It’s the same exact image they used in the initial announcement of “doWnToWn SoUtH” but with a baseball stadium instead of soccer. I wouldn’t even give this image a second look, FYI.

Hey Jake,
Yes, that image was created early on in the process and it will not materialize as is shown. That was the initial location for the soccer stadium and it was created to explain that a baseball stadium COULD fit in that location. So that was the context. But since then, they moved their future stadium site east on the property to make way for the development plans they had to make when MLS went to Charlotte.

But I wouldn’t mock the idea of baseball as a legitimate option in Downtown South. In fact, I’d bet DT South ends up being one of the finalists when Dundon and Co. start discussing locations.

But hey, what do I know?

Isn’t anyone going talk about that horrendous park and ride in the middle of DTS?

LOL yeah, the Cargill mocks were created prior to the Kane purchase of DT South. We’ll likely remove them shortly as the site is about to get an overhaul. At this point, I think the real options are PNC and DTS.

Well dang, I liked the Cargil site. But again, I am good anywhere.
Except the before mentioned outlying areas such as the wilds of Cary.

Pretty cool! Don’t think the Kansas City Royals are moving here though

Well, it’s not impossible, it’s just that there are extra steps that would need to be taken with the Cargill site, and the other sites are a little more straight forward (as far as ownership and access go).

If we keep Cargill on the site, we’ll adjust the plans for sure.

Dundon purchasing Backyard Bistro per Raleigh Magazine. They discuss that it will likely be repurposed as a sports book.

Link? Can’t find info on this on their site

Well, Backyard Bistro is pretty tired so… sure, I guess.
