Although, we’d probably lose the whole tailgating aspect of attending games that we currently have.
That’s true, but a lot of revenue is lost to restaurants, & bars to our tailgating. Are there 2 -3 small hotels near the PNC? I like the sound of SAS Arena & Epic Games Stadium.

Tailgating at Canes games isn’t really a thing during the regular season and its not really all that great for the playoffs. Its fun but I don’t think its a deal breaker for the majority of fans.

I’ve been a season ticket holder for 15 years. Admittedly, though, my friends and I have been scheduling our package to avoid Jan-Mar if we can.

about 2 weeks ago, the NC Courage held a fan event at the Union Station in downtown. Malik was there and Kane as well. Just happened to catch an interview with Malik on 99.9 during a ride home and he said some very interesting things. He was asked about the MLS project and he said they were still actively working on it. Hinted that the MLS was not impressed by the stadium plans. Other cities provided better, more detailed plans and renderings. The Raleigh stadium rendering was more of an idea instead just so they had something to submit. However he stated that him and Kane are very close to having something concrete planned. They were actively acquiring more land is all he said and that they were working with the city. He didn’t say where or if it was the same site as the previous proposal but the idea of an MLS team may not be as dead as i previously thought.

Hey Tangent, welcome to the forum! The new stadium land is located at the Northeast corner of South Saunders and 440 behind the red roof inn, also known as the Penmarc land. Kane/Malik originally had 40 acres here but during the PodcastRaleigh interview with Kane last week he mentioned that they now had 60 acres.

Welcome Tangent ! I have only spoken with Mr . Kane thru email & I have a message from him this morning saying that he will be out of town all week . Maybe , hoping it is concerning a stadium . I’m just guessing on this .

Huh, 60 acres is a lot of acres. iMaps seems to be down, or at least not working for me on this computer right now, but just going from memory, all of the Penny family land is a shade under 40 acres, and then adding in everything else that’s bounded by Saunders, Gilbert, Green, and Penmarc, and/or the Red Roof Inn gets you just a bit more than 40 acres. But that still leaves almost 20 acres unaccounted for, which is a pretty big chunk of land given what surrounds the Penny properties.
The city of Raleigh owns 10 acres abutting the Penny properties, but the process for selling that land would be public, so suffice to say that’s not what he’s referring to. Once you get to Gilbert Ave., that’s all single family residential housing, so that seems like an unlikely candidate as well. And I’d be really surprised if he’s talking about the Hatem-owned properties. Duke Energy owns six acres just north of Penmarc/Water Works, which is a little more plausible, but that would be at least mildly surprising, and still doesn’t get you close to 60 acres.
If it’s not any of that stuff, hypothetically speaking, then the only other land would be on the other side of Saunders. There’s a few small plots right along the road that I’m sure Kane and Malik would be interested in, and quite possibly have locked down, but still not enough to get you to 20 acres.
OTOH, that Flowserve plant sits on 27 acres. That would get you to 60 pretty easily. Huh. Look, I’m not saying that’s what they’ve got, but 60 is a pretty big number in that neighborhood, so this certainly is interesting.

Yeah, there’s something called Raleigh Reclamation LLC owns pretty much everything between Bluff St. and I-40. Does anyone know anything about this outfit?
I guess this could be it, but that white line in the middle there is the Walnut Creek Trail. I suppose Kane could be counting that land even though it’s not land you could actually develop or anything.
