This is as ignorant as when non Americans say that American football is boring. Like football, it takes years of following soccer to truly appreciate the movement and understand what’s going on. I simply never understood the need to criticize it like people do. It didn’t become the most popular sport in the world by dumb luck.

Premier league, World Cup or nothing for me. I just can not get into soccer. Maybe, if ever, the MLS becomes the primary league in the world I would have a different take. I don’t get the hype or the money spent for franchises at this level.

Nope. Washington just added exponentially more drama to one of the most storied franchises in all of sport and one of the largest markets in the country.
People are talking about it because they are interested and they care.

Well, there sure is a lot of discussion going on around here about Charlotte’s new soccer team, so apparently somebody must care about it, otherwise you all wouldn’t be talking about Charlotte at length in a discussion thread devoted to development in Raleigh. 
I wonder if there’s an Uptown Charlotte community message board where the commenters get into extended discussions about NCFC’s branding. I’m guessing probably not?
But, yeah, Charlotte didn’t choose a dictionary-defined racial slur as their team name, so I would say they did leaps and bounds better than the Washington Football Team.
