Oh hey, they’ve got some walls up already!
Have, or haven’t… ?
They left those up.
It may not be what we hoped for in terms of size and scale but it will be better than what was there before and it will be an asset for the area. I hope I am pleasantly surprised with the final product.
Do we know that they are proceeding with the full tower build at the moment or just the bus station with the tower at a later date?
The last thing I saw was that the tower is going to be built later on.
Now we are cooking with gas! I like the atrium-like area taking shape towards RUS, and the driveways on West. Thanks for the update!
Public transit stations can be wonderful cathedrals (or parish churches) of transportation. It’s all about how well they’re policed and taken care of.
I remember frequently having to shuttle between Boston and NYC via bus (long distance relationships… not great) and Port Authority was a mess while South Station was really nice.
I’ve had the same thought. I’ll withhold judgement until it’s open. Maybe Raleigh will continue to focus on actual policing of large-scale public investments.
Given the large housing component of this project, there won’t be too many homeless people in this immediate area, at least not living here. I say this because the pedestrian traffic volumes will be very high overtime.
The issue with GoRaleigh station is that the building is mainly a parking deck with ample room for encampments that wouldn’t be supervised, given the lack of pedestrians (at all hours) and minimal security.
By this logic, we shouldn’t ever build things accessible to the general public.
My gut tells me we’ll see news soon that the remainder of the project is not only going to follow shortly thereafter, but will be revised to something similar to the initial plans. Going with my ESPN for this prediction.
I wonder after they move from there iconic GoRaleigh Bus Station to there new hub. What will be next for the old station possibly a tear down and redevelopment to apartments? The same for Greyhound off of Capital that place is 11 years old, I remember they remolded it from a bank to a station. This will be there second relocation in 11 years as before until the 2013 move they were in they’re long time greyhound station across from the Qourum building. It’s a question since they’re all moving into RUSBUS, what next for them.
RUS Bus will be a new additional facility for local and regional buses. GoRaleigh station will remain as the hub for local Raleigh city buses.
Oh okay I thought they were all coming together which they are. But it’s good to see they’ll still be one for Raleigh alone.
Wow, thanks for the update from this angle. Love all the cranes in this direction, but super excited to see that ramp going up in the RUB!!
Does anyone know if there will be a public video camera for this project? Sure would be nice
