Agree in principle but as mentioned I doubt it makes financial sense at this point. Pre-covid, you could get a pretty reasonably priced Uber between Raleigh and downtown Durham, which I did on occasion on weekend nights (e.g., ~$20 IIRC).
I paid that to come downtown from Crabtree for the last meet up event!!
How much did you pay @GucciLittlePig and @GucciLittlePenguin to get you home?
I lectured them for free!! Or should that be I gave them a free lecture? It’s so hard to tell sometimes what I am doing. I do know that I was very appreciative to them both for the ride.
Post Covid, ride sharing has gotten more expensive unfortunately.
Along with everything else… Except job applications
Plans just hit the wire! Looks like we’ll top out at 414’ 35 story main tower. 17 story hotel.

Other stats
Love to see it! Can’t wait for this to get out of the ground.
Beat me to it. At 414 feet it will be the Third tallest building in Raleigh just ahead of Wells Fargo.
A couple more stats:
351 Residential units
200 Hotel rooms
263 One bedroom
88 Two bedroom
I wish they had some updated renderings on how it’ll look from the street how it fits the skyline etc. hopefully those are soon to come.
Will look absolutely giant in this location though!
Terrific - for the folks with an exceptional mind for trivia (or a willingness to dig), does anyone know the height of the Dillon building?
250 feet, at least according to Wikipedia
One big note I noticed, “FULL HEIGHT HISTORICAL FACADE TO REMAIN” along West St
It would definitely be easier to picture things with a 3D render, but the sheet drawings already give us a solid idea of how the building will be tall and still not feel imposing.
For example, near the RUS/Dillon plaza:
…and along Martin St.:
It’s definitely an interesting design. If I had to come up with one thing I’m feeling iffy about, I’m not sure how well BRT would work with their street-level design. It looks like RED lanes (read: bus + emergency + right-turn lane) would only fit on southbound West St. Unless BRT lines end up looping downtown in just one direction, I’m not entirely sure how this would work?
Now we’re talking!!
Skyline altering huge.
No way this image is even close to accurate- The Dillon is exactly 250ft tall, and if this tower is topped out at 414ft, that’s almost 200 feet taller… will appear WAY bigger than this image alludes to!
shrug… its a drawing. also perspective and foreground etc…
