Raleigh Union Station and RUSbus Facility / Union West

Another case of tear down the buildings now so we can maybe replace them years from now?

Thanks. I interesting that that case is missing from the current dev page.

Is it 20 floors yet?

I think sometimes when they are approved they get taken off the page? So that its just the active list?

You are probably right. The bot did get it but we never saw the conclusion.

Just to confirm, from the bot’s perspective there is no update or it missed the update? Sorry I’m not sure that I’m following correctly?
Please and thank you

The bot scrapes every hour so if they never updated it on the website then it would never update. This includes if a project is removed because it is approved. We need it to say approved for at least a short period of time for the bot to get it.

The ASR is approved, but they have not finished the paperwork. The percent completion for the submittal is 86 percent. Once the ASR is completely finalized, they can then submit for site permits based on the newly approved ASR. I don’t know how this affects the previously released permits.

I heard it’s 26 stories now

God I hope not. The incredible shrinking building.

All Raleigh has to do is build one 300+ foot residential building in its downtown to break the curse.

Will it though? Will the curse ever be broken?

Not in your lifetime. Maybe in mine.

Curse needs a name, otherwise it’s just a boring development drought :man_mage:

The drought doesn’t affect things 20 floors or less. Plenty development happening but height isn’t. So it’s a curse.

Honestly, I’m fine with 20ish story buildings for now. It’s not like Raleigh has few vacant plots of land within the downtown area. I’m more so worried that this RUSBUS building will get built at all. Therefore, if it’s between no building and a 26 story one, then I’d take the latter all day as it still adds density, which is much needed in DTR.

My main man Vatnos, please tell me your joking?

26 stories of residential would be getting perilously close to being the same height as The Dillon. I just want some variety in height already.

The approved ASR shows it as 31 stories. But, I guess they can always build it shorter. Won’t really know until they submit for the building permit.

I hope that happens soon. Can’t stand the suspense!

It’s June 2023 and still zero 21+ story towers are under construction. For reference, Durham has at least one under construction. :coffin:

And Charlotte has a 47 story residential tower that just started construction this week.

I’m not looking forward to this project anymore myself.
