I wonder about the impact of hearing the trains.
They’re only supposed to blow when they roll across the Cabarrus grade crossing, which is a couple blocks away.
Good point! Would be kind of cool.
In my humble opinion, if a train rolling by is even heard over the music, then the music is NOT LOUD ENOUGH. TURN THAT S#%T UP!!!
this can’t be overstated.
If you look at the direction of the sound, it looks like they were clever in pointing it away from housing and hotel rooms. Crank it up!
https://www.redhatamphitheater.com/calendar seems a good mix of stuff.
One of my favorite Red Hat Amp 1.0 experiences was seeing Stone Temple Pilots with the late Scott Weiland in 2010. I forget which song they were playing when the Amtrak sounded its horn (here’s the setlist from that night), but you could tell Weiland was tickled by it, and the band locked hard into a groove in the moment.
This dates back to August 2024 and is outdated now. Newer renderings appear to show that the swoopy roof is far less swoopy now… terminates just past the stage area. More like a hat. Maybe they should make it red?
They really need to figure out a way to budget in 2 big ass screens on either side of the stage on those gigantic blank walls, a la:
You should let them know.
It’d just lead to a better experience overall. They’re probably planning for it in the future, I’d imagine.
Just drop the big dumb hook’em sculpture from the front
It’s fair to say, sitting in an uncovered cement bowl in the middle of August is going to be brutal
I love the gigantic rock on
Ideally the summer shows are at night…
Need to be night like Madrid-night. Shows starting at 10. Let the concrete can cool off.
Totally agree but this is no different/worse than what exists today…
Just got an email from the city saying South Street will permanently close starting April 14th to begin construction on the new Ampitheater. They also included a couple renderings I haven’t seen:
I’ve very interested to see what comes from the interface between convention center and red hat, has potential to be really cool, also has potential to be what we have now, which is a dead zone.
