Red Hat Amphitheater and Outdoor Music

What a great lineup! And love that they’re that well connected with the happenings in our town!

I didn’t know much about Sugar Ray, but apparently Mark McGrath grew up in Hartford and was as Whalers fan. So he had a surprising Raleigh connection as well.

Does there seem to be any significant progress on the new amphitheater? I am surprised thus far by the slow start.

No. I feel like they had this super ambitious timeline of being open for summer 2026, and then scrapped that and are now slow rolling everything. I wouldn’t be shocked if spring 2027 rolls around and they’re like, hey bad news everyone…

Apparently WRAL just found out about this today. Lol. And they didn’t even get a reason. Quality journalism

Good thing we still managed to close South Street in absolutely record time. If we had taken even 1 extra week to have a second look at other downtown locations, then then the whole thing would have fallen through and Downtown Raleigh would have surely never had an outdoor concert ever again.

Where were the residents relocated?

I was skeptical about the original opening date from the beginning.

Drove through downtown without stopping for once, but they had bulldozers actively doing stuff at the site. Hard to grab a pic while I was driving 15 above the posted limit to take a right on red because of all the pedestrians and cyclists yelling at me.

Lots of activity here the last couple of days

from the large privacy screening logo ads, looks like we found where Livable Raleigh’s William Castle hosts his, um, “gatherings.”

So we have equipment and we have a mound of dirt. And my daughter says bright lights at night. Shall we say - we have progress?

I think that mound of dirt is the new elevated lawn seating!!!

That will dramatically improve the spectator experience and was the biggest flaw with the old RHA

Direct hidden behind that tree is a gigantic hole too
