agreed. The drug addicts & homeless are just climbing over the useless fence & camping, doing drugs…among other illegal activities. Literally witnessed a woman performing an act on someone…WTF!!!
Pics or it didn’t happen!
Not to mention the insane amount of trash strewn everywhere in the area. Not expecting anything to happen for years though
The dycleaner at 1601 New Bern Ave was one of my DSCA sites that we closed out earlier this year. @UncleJesse , I have loved seeing your pictures of my site as it has been getting a facelift. The seating area was built over top of one of my wells that we had to take out before they could proceed. LOL (I couldn’t mention it on this forum while it was still an active project ) I am looking forward to seeing this area get some attention as we are preparing for the BRT to be built and come on line.
So I’m assuming the city is looking at developing something that fills the whole corner with the new street configuration? Could be some nice density here.
Both of these are going to be such a huge improvement to the area. Combined with the Milner site, the added density plus improvements to the quality of housing in the area will be a major impact. The timeline seems to be a bit drawn-out IMHO, but heck, we’ll take it!
It’s called Blotto AND it’s on New Bern Ave? I only foresee great things happening here.
Purely rumor at this point but a friend who frequents Alamo told me he hears that they’re possibly gonna take over the empty space between them and the Veterinary clinic. Would definitely be a smart move, and hopefully they could get a good deal on the lease, seeing as it’s been empty for years. Dunno if they’re waiting on the BRT or maybe all those new residential infill projects mentioned above, first.
Would be great to see them expand. Love their bar food and the beer options are pretty expansive as well.
The one thing I wish they could do there is add in stadium seating. I love the Alamo, but my one gripe is that they selected a building that didn’t allow for elevated, tiered seating like other theaters have. Having a server run in front of you with a bowl of popcorn in the middle of a movie is always distracting.
That’s awesome, and a good tell that they’re still doing well even while some Alamo locations have closed in recent years. I will be there tonight to catch a screening of MegaFLOPolis in fact! I’d love it if they used some of that extra space for (obviously aside from an extra theater or two) a retro-style arcade! I feel like that’d just fit too perfectly with the rest of their lobby to not at least consider it.
Don’t get me wrong, I love that Pins Mechanical is going to Seaboard, but I can’t help but love the idea of Pins and Alamo next to each other. Oh my!!!
Maybe Alamo can move to Seaboard Station so I’d actually go. Again, why don’t businesses plan their stuff around me?
Agree. As a local to that area, what I’ve observed is that they’re doing well—that parking lot is very full at least 4-5 nights a week. Some even park on the upper level of the center near Josef’s pharmacy and climb down the ramp. Another reason to celebrate when BRT finally comes.
We went to Megslopolis Tuesday night and couldn’t find a parking space
And god help you if you talked during the film to tell the server that they are blocking your view.
I completely agree about the stadium seating issue. I don’t know that I want to go a film that isn’t stadium seating anymore.
Glad to hear they’re doing well and considering expansion, they could stand to update their seats in some of the theaters, they’re starting to get pretty ratty.
The Paragon Theaters in the Fenton is pretty nice. But a long walk for you.
