Residential Infill along New Bern - Edenton

Those seats in the middle of the Paragon are great. The next time I went to Alamo after going to that one I did feel like the seats at Alamo could use an upgrade. Alamo still beats it on food, drinks and vibe, but damn if those seats at the Paragon aren’t so much better than anywhere else. They cost quite a bit more %-wise compared to Alamo but as someone with a creaky body, it was worth it.

I miss the day of bringing a flask of bourbon and some Reese’s pieces from Target. I want dinner and a show, not dinner at the show. Lol

I’m captivated with this processing and can’t stop watching. Is something going to happen soon?

If you look closely, those leaves on the trees in the background, they will fall off the trees soon!

Very happy to see the City is working to clean up those sites. I was worried they would just leave them as an eyesore. My confidence in them has been given a boost !! We need something positive these days!!

maybe im a wet rag, ive been gone awhile…but how do some of the incomes a few blocks off of new bern ave compare to other parts of raleigh? when I lived in reno nv https://www.wincofoods.com/ was as wonderful low cost grocer…any such things on new bern now or in the works…if there is an actual demand?

There’s like three Food Lions nearby so I doubt the demands for low cost grocer will increase any. With most of the new housing being an upward tilt, that’s why the current rumor of Harris Teeter looking at the exploris plot is exciting.

Given the average home price on the North Side (behind the library & the new Neuse River bar site) is pushing $800,000 up to $1.3MM, I would guess incomes have jumped dramatically over the last 5 years.

Two things.

  1. @UncleJesse 's second picture there just really highlights how… bizarro-world longleaf pines can be. I had to look at the picture three times before my brain stopped registering that as a palm tree. And I am a plant scientist!

  2. Alamo is the best. I would honestly prefer to watch a movie at Alamo, and NOT ORDER ANYTHING (like that’d ever happen), than watch the same movie in the stadium seats at any nearby Regal AND have a beer. Going to the movies, I don’t know. It used to be an experience, right? And I don’t mean a dress-up-go-to-church-apply-for-a-mortgage type of experience. Where I grew up, going to the theater included some inherent risks…of motor vehicle theft, aggravated assault…but also there’s just something about NOT having the stadium seats that still feels right to me. You know, MST3K style: if they’d had stadium seating, you’d never have seen their heads down there at the front. It wouldn’t have been the same.
I hope they do get to take over the empty spaces in between. Maybe they’ll be able to put in some sort of stadium something for the people who want that. Me? I’ll be at theaters 6-11, thank you very much.
The presence (or lack) of an Alamo is one of the factors on my willing-to-move-there list. I’m not even kidding.

in the raleigh blvd vicinity?

Finally found out what is going on at the SECU there. While I like the more-modern style and the old place desperately needed upgrading, but also kinda disappointed it’s just gonna be another one-story branch though.
I know SECU doesn’t tend to ever consider mixed-use buildings but oh well.
At the very least, I’m hoping it’ll set off a chain reaction of more places on the corridor doing upgrades/renovations.

Zoned OX-3, in the TOD, next to the former DMV site and a BRT station, and this is what we’ll get? Not even an entrance from the sidewalk?

Definitely feel like I posted about this, but I can’t seem to find the right search term.

The rezoning of three lots between New Bern and Enloe High on Clarendon Crescent is going to the Planning Commission.

Intrigued to see what this Dev_Duo has in store here…

Looks like it’s a request to upzone from R-4 to R-10, and the combined acreage of the three lots is 1.76, so it could be redeveloped to contain a maximum of 17 homes. Maybe we’ll see some townhomes here in the future

Could also be ~95 apartments!
