Show Off Things From Other Cities

News outlets are reporting that measurement but yeah I checked the official site and now it’s down in height to 425 feet. RVA-fanatics are nervously hoping CoStar doesn’t know the height of their tower. lol

That’s 10 feet short than the RUSBUS, we still have the edge lol.

I don’t think it’s sad. Let them experiment first and let’s learn their lessons.

Back in my Richmond days that area nw of the Federal Reserve building was all grass. Mead WeseVaco came in right after I moved back to Raleigh and built a building and large parking deck. Glad to see they are finally going to build out the rest of that area. The rendering made me laugh, from the south (looking towards the north across the James) this proposed building will block out a lot of the new Dominion building.

From tik tok…

@GucciLittlePenguin wanna add this to our list? Maybe we can get married in the 301 Hillsborough deck. We’ll be visible from miles around!

This is your deck in South Beach, isn’t it, @John ?

Yep. You can see it from my building.
It’s a hell of a garage, and that upper level can be fully carpeted for events. Frankly, that upper levels is used more for events than it is for parking.
I’ll try and pull some photos off my phone and post them.

I’ve been down the one in Rosslyn (194 ft). That was pretty trippy. You feel like you are going down perpendicular to the ground. I’ve stayed at the Le Meridien nearby. Not a bad area. It gives the look of a urban city, especially from DC, but was generally quite empty.

Will my parking ticket be validated?

This would be a great idea for a budget wedding, lol. My thrifty sensor sure likes that idea.

Back in Birmingham for the holidays. Not sure where in Raleigh this could be replicated, but this historic redevelopment is cool. Redeveloped the older brick buildings, built modern condos on top, and then built a public cut through walkway to connect two popular streets with restaurants / businesses in the middle. A nice example of keeping the old, but repurposing it.

I thought people would like this list, but dislike that we did not make it and not like who was #1 https://youtu.be/C1hUR5v4aok

So, his objective methodology excludes downtowns but he picks Charlotte’s Fourth Ward? Um, okay.
Even his map for the neighborhood used for the score cuts right into the middle of the city center.

It’s close, but the cliffs are a few miles south of La Jolla.

Attended a conference in Birmingham a dozen years ago. The Five Points South (and UAB) area was pretty cool. Birmingham has a nice urban feel to it. Really enjoyed it.

There has been a lot of positive change in the last 12 yrs. Several breweries, booming food scene, new downtown minor league park, new “railroad park” that runs through the middle of town, and brand new football stadium downtown, next to the convention center/basketball arena.

I’ve had similar ideas for ways to add 4 or 5 floors over the storefronts along the 200 block of Wilmington. And then over the parking deck ramp/Beasleys.
