Google’s new skyline defining tower in Austin. The office in Durham is unlikely to be this interesting and probably a low rise.
Seattle looks like they’re leaning toward converting the street fronting Pike Place Market into a pedestrian mall: https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/transportation/pike-place-with-fewer-cars-seattle-councilmember-says-its-a-priority/
The fact that it hasn’t been for years already is bonkers.
As I recall the last time I drove in downtown Seattle, this stretch was so full of pedestrians, traffic moved very slowly and the only folks using this road were looking to park and go in, or lost out of towners. I was both, lol. Not that I was lost, but I quickly realized my mistake by turning down this stretch.
Boy the rust is really apparent on the old boat. I’ve heard the hull is in terrible shape. It needs, I believe, a massive restoration. Great photos though. This was one of my favorite childhood trips ever.
Luckily they created a fundraising campaign years ago to raise the money, and I believe they finalize all the hull repairs this year or have already completed them.
Greensboro beat us. Sad.
Hope this is a success and Raleigh takes notice. I think it would be big for local businesses & hotels in the area.
It’s already been implemented in Kannapolis, and I heard Salisbury is considering it as well.
Cary now has two Tesla Model Ys in its police fleet:

Not only does it help the Town meet its goal of converting the municipal fleet to electric, but the Town expects to save money in the long term by reducing fuel and maintenance costs compared to a gas-powered vehicle.
Doesn’t look back open yet - if ever.
Such a cool thing.
Richmond gets what Raleigh can’t:
A new 510 foot 26-story office tower:
If we put total investment jobs / towers / development wise side by side in the past 5 years and stuff planned within the next 5 I’d be willing to bet we’d outnumber them 5 times
Total investment yeah but I would like to see a new tallest in Raleigh. We won’t get one any time soon due to our campus-oriented business environment. Hope that F500 relocation rumor is true and not just hot air.
I don’t think Raleigh was ever seriously in the mix for that but Charlotte was actually a finalist they were making the decision back in 2016. The whole HB2 thing helped play a role in costar’s decision to go with Richmond.
The original announcement back then was 730 jobs, but now at full build out they expect 3,000.
Still holding out hope for Nexus to end up taller than PNC
Of all of DTR, I think that is the block for it.
I hoping it will be a signature design as well!!
Where does it list the height? 510 feet also seems a little tall for a 26-story office building.
