Look at all those Shibumi Shades on the beach!

They just conginue to multiply, despite the $$$

Ah yes, I’d like to order one drinkable drink, please.

They’re all over the NC beaches. Marketing genius to turn a tent pole and sheet into a $250 product! I do find it amusing to see all the limp sheets when the breeze isn’t strong enough.

And when it’s windy it’s a loud wildly flapping thing over your head. And at some beaches they restrict them to the back of the beach. I thought about getting one but I think our simple little umbrella is the way to go. (I’m at the beach rn and it’s windy lol).

restrict them? thats new to me. The advantage when its windy is they dont blow aways like 'brellas or canopies.

Yep. At Sunset Beach for example anything with guy wires has to be on the back edge of the beach.

We bought one last year. It’s super lightweight and super easy to set up. Won’t blow away in a gust. Plus made in the USA as a bonus.

Much rather have that then shlep and set up a tailgate tent. We have a beach umbrella but always feels like not enough shade.

And when is there not a breeze at the beach?

Like them way more than umbrellas or tents, but to each their own.

This is a very weird tangent

Are you not a beach person? lol. :slightly_smiling_face:
@Kanatenah exactly, US made, NC invented I believe - and the slightest breeze moves them.
I hate carting the tailgate tent, and have lost several trying to take them down in the strong afternoon breeze.
One of the things I hate about the Gulf Coast is folks just leave their mental tailgate frame when they are done. Someone else will take care of it ** How I detest that attitude.

Honestly, not really. Sand, sharks, hot sun, rip currents, jellyfish, me topless… Meh, who needs that?

I do like Wilmington tho, and some of the beaches in NC are kind of pretty. I’d take the mountains any day over the beach tho. But anyways, I apparently am clueless about all these tents and cloth things y’all are talking about.

Just to keep this on topic, here’s me showing off a thing from another city: a beach by Barcelona that I will make a point to visit and enjoy.

We should try this with all our new development. Mostly kidding, but it’s a cool picture. Apparently in Turkey.

US developers that clear cut everything could learn something from this pic

I’d love to see more living-integration architecture incorporated around here :pleading_face::pleading_face:

I don’t know what the structural downsides to doing that would be though or if it’s really plausible for new dev.

An old Durham shopping center adjacent to downtown and 147 (which removal efforts are in the planning stages since east end connector opens Thursday) is set for a massive redevelopment.

A bit sterile. This is about what an Airport Business District would look like. I’ve seen this in Paris and Amsterdam.
