On the riverwalk in DC - very unique and
unexpected artwork.
Well if the city does what Durham doing they won’t have to worry.
oh…it was an FAA crash site investigation.
Ah that’d be cool - the corridor from the historic downtown up through Central Park to the old ballfield is super lively but it does have too many parking lot/garage dead zones.
Downtown Cary’s park is coming along really well. I hope Deveraux Meadows winds up half this good. But it won’t.
The townhouses in the back
For a cool $1m+ they are all yours!
Yeah my wife and I met up with some friends at Scratch and Cary’s bull city cider afterwards and that whole area is blowing up.
You know what Go Transit needs? A mildly terrifying mascot (trust me, the video is worth clicking to).
Those buses going straight to terror town. Fitting as its about spooky szn.
If we need any inspiration for two towers spanning Capital Blvd by Peace…
Would love to this kind of investment in DTR like Austin. This type of development would make a great pair of towers. Now that’s a picture.
I think this is in the wrong thread. Shouldn’t it be in the show off things from other cities topic?
Not to start another discussion about why one city is better or worse, but I found this article about the differences in approach and attitude an interesting comparison.
Also, I thought it an odd omission to not mention the impact of Durham being right here.
And I liked that Kane is noted as wanting the city to get rid of the 40 story cap so he can build even taller!
“Raleigh was reluctant. It happened there by accident.”
Not my words - Mitchell Silver’s but accurate in my experience…
Raleigh’s growth nodes approach was also aimed at absorbing a projected population growth surge due to migration by minimizing sprawl and locating residents close to employment and future transit. Nodes also provide more flexibility for support services and economic fluctuations.
Emphasis on DT residents provides a built-in customer base for DT retail and lures suburbanites but not just to one location. Raleigh also needed to accommodate the various government agencies in the DT area.
Why is there even a 40 story cap to begin with? This isn’t like DC where there is a codified historical aesthetic to preserve or like Boston or San Diego where theres an airport near downtown and the FAA got involved.
