This looks like one of those quilts your grandma made from old tshirts.
Even tiny Cork, Ireland with historic buildings 500 older than Raleigh’s oldest is planning to add a 34 story tower in the city center.
It will sit on top of a historic building.
I never thought we would be surpassed by Cork of all places.

That’s gonna be quite the skyline!
Eh, I prefer more balance in a skyline. IMO those huge towers surrounded by low rise buildings aren’t a great look.
Reminds me of the one in OKC which I think looks silly.
That being said, I think our zoning here in Raleigh is overly restrictive and I hope our 40-story rezonings are approved.
Meanwhile in Columbus OH…
Columbus makes me jealous at times. The fact they’re going to have a soccer and hockey stadium within walking distance of each other and downtown is super cool.
But how many professional sports championships do they have? Looking at you too, Charlotte. haha
Well I stand corrected. They have an MLS championship. (as if that counts)
Public Art, like fountains, when its good can really add to the quality of life for a city. Chick-let seems to be out in front of Raleighweed yet again. This looks pretty cool.
I was born and raised in Columbus. It’s hard to believe all of this is happening there. When I go back I barely recognize where I’m at. The arena district used to be the State Prison Complex. It’s absolutely blooming there now.
When I see things like this happening in towns like Rock Hill South Carolina I really feel like Raleigh is slipping behind. All electric buses and they are free to ride. That could be a game-changer for many in the city who cannot afford to buy automobiles.
I would love to see Raleigh have something like this, it would be a plus for seniors and disabled, also for those that can not afford a Car.
RDU just started similar (slightly larger) electric buses for its parking shuttles.
Not trying to trigger anyone but Matt takes amazing photos. Charlotte has a great skyline. When I lived in that area I loved driving by at night.
I have been to Charlotte many times, wonderful city.
I am disgusted by how much I enjoy visiting Charlotte.
I only make it as far as the IKEA before turning around to go home.
In preparation for my upcoming dump of pictures from Denver, here’s a hotel with a New Belgium partnered rooftop bar/restaurant. Why can’t we have buildings made of twisty blocks?
Because our council would have to be resuscitated.
