Vicious Fishes’ new brewery in DT Cary is coming right along, as well as their next door neighbor Southline Brewing.

Oh and one more gratuitous shot of the new park

Vicious Fishes is killing it by expanding across the southern suburbs from Angier to Apex to Cary. Good business model.

Don’t forget the Fuquay one either! However that one is more of a restaurant than a brewery like the others.

@GucciLittlePig I live around the corner from their Apex one and was chatting this new Cary one up with the owners of VF. It’ll be exciting to see the vision of VF Cary and Southline Brewing come together. VF had a blog post about the vision of these two breweries coming together a little while ago. Can’t wait to see it happen honestly.

Food hall in downtown Miami. I ate at the Jamaica restaurant a block over because of the ridiculous prices. Cool place tho

The Downtown Cary park is really coming together. WRAL had a writeup and special sneak peek this morning on the news. I was with my family at Cotton House last week and it definitely will be an amazing addition to the area.

This looks really nice. It’s too bad this isn’t in Raleigh - this park is full of things to do for all ages and especially kids. I was reading an article in the Financial Times today about the “childless city” and the many benefits to catering to all ages including children. Young adults who find the city child friendly may be inclined to stay and raise kids there instead of just moving out once they have a family. But you need the city to include good schools, activities and not a bunch of sterile areas that are just offices/restaurants for more affluent people; it would need to be walkable not just for adult able-bodied people, but kids too. It was an interesting article and something I never considered.

It made me think of how active the green space is near Chuey’s in North Hills - singles, older folks from the Cardinal and tons of families with kids/dogs from the surrounding homes are there on Friday nights, playing/having picnics. It’s quite lively and diverse - I suspect this park in Cary will have that sort of atmosphere but multiplied especially if there are kid-friendly restaurants nearby.

Downtown Cary’s just a short drive away though! Closer to downtown Raleigh than a lot of Raleigh is. Lol

Maybe if I had kids I would take them there! Downtown Cary seems very far away to me.

The Downtown Cary Park is only a 10 minute train ride from Raleigh Union Station, which is just $6 though…

Less costly than an Uber!

Looking pretty sweet and excited to check it out at some point! Crazy to think that it’s 6 acres in DTC.
Cool to imagine what could unfold over time at Dix over multiple stages…
Gipson plaza and play (stage 1) is around 18 acres, I think…?

I lived there for several years and it never got old. It’s more about how much you integrate yourself into the place where you live, than it is about the place itself.

Been holding onto that reply for a little bit? Lol!

Ha! Sometimes I don’t realize how far in the past I’m reading when I just HAVE to respond… Anything to defend the first city I loved!

I also love Greenville SC!

Yeah that whole area has a nice mix of food and beverage options and I think this is a perfect addition. Not sure if Cary has looked into their own ‘sip and stroll’ district but I think something involving DT Cary would be a slam dunk. Especially with places like Cotton House backing up to the park.

Looked at the website and yep the Gipson section is 18.5 acres. Just kinda gives the perspective of how huge a built out Dix park will be all said and done.

Develop 18 acres every 13 years. Only about 839 surveys away from completion.

Missing middle housing coming to Pittsboro. Guess light rail is next.

Now this is how you brand a downtown trolly loop using buses.
