How much volume does Pigeon Branch House Creek have (outside of downpours)?
Seriously like hitting the river walk in the mornings. I enjoy a good mix of nature and urban environments.
I was in Chicago in June. It’s such a nicely built city!
But Chicago actually made something unique out of those towers. Sure, they are almost completely parking I’m pretty sure, but they made a unique design that actually looks good and appealing IMO
The building 2nd to the right looks like a giant Wells Fargo tower
Went to Chicago over Memorial Day and did one of the sunset architecture cruises on the river, 100% recommend.
My Dad was from Chicago and I still have lots of relatives who live there. Used to visit all the time when I was younger. Awesome museums and always plenty of things to do. Great place to visit. But, definitely would not want to live there.
At Marina City, those two tower are residential. The lower levels are parking where the floor plates are circular. Where the “pedals” start is where the condos begin. My family is from Chicago, and I really admired these buildings when I was a kid. Here’s a shot from my trip in June.
Did it a few years ago, probably my favorite part of the trip not including the John Hancock building tilt thingy and the glass boxes on the sears tower
Wilco fans will recognize Marina City from the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot album cover.
It would be really nice if we could get some interesting architecture like this in Raleigh.
Also the building Bob Newhart lived in on his first show in the late 70s. They’ve been iconic since they went up.
Raleigh needs to do whatever Denver is doing. I just had my 4th engineering friend move out there. These are the type of people Raleigh needs to be attracting and keeping.
Denver is an awesome city. Was just there 3 weeks ago for a friends bachelor party. We stayed in LoHi, right outside of the city. Really cool area with a bunch of restaurants, breweries, and small shops.
Was there earlier this week (stayed in LoDo) and honestly I’d consider moving there. People say it’s expensive but people say that here too, so who knows. So much to do, really beautiful city. It’s almost like what Raleigh could be if it actually tried to reach its potential, but I don’t think Raleigh will ever get there. I’m also still missing the low humidity
Same! Denver is one of our cities to visit more and a possible destination one of these days. Right now I’m in love with Raleigh.
Bosco Verticale (Vertical Forest) is a pair of residential towers in Milan, Italy, designed by architect Stefano Boeri. Each tower houses 900 trees.
Now there’s a project that the city council can’t refuse.
I think they’d worry about ADU treehouses being built in them tho…
It’s a tourist town with lots of walkers near the beach. It’s what I’d expect them to do!
