Show Off Things From Other Cities

The details on the problems is stunning. I had to open a second beer to finish the whole article. ( this is sarcasm for any neo-colonalists who didnt get it. I am still on my first beer)

I too am very confused. They tore the street up…and now it’s on hold. I feel like I am left hanging from a really bad horror movie. I now really, really want to know WTH is going on. Pass me a beer.

This looks like the amazing Mexican I’ve gotten from Juanitas Taco Shop (290 N Coast Hwy 101, Encinitas). I’ve been lucky enough to visit this place twice now and I’ll go again next time I’m driving through. SOOOOOO GOOOD!!!

I went down to Chicano Park in Barrio Logan the other day to take pictures of the murals not knowing that the 56th Annual Chicano Park Day was going on. It’s the largest lowrider and classic car show in the world. This was by far the nicest collection of cars I’ve ever seen. I got adopted for the day by San Diego City Car Club, made new friends, got fed homemade Mexican food, and shot a bunch of video for my new pals. Good times.

Here’s some shots from the Claude “Bud” Lewis Desalination Plant in Carlsbad. It’s the largest one in the western hemisphere and can treat enough water that San Diego County is now in talks with the states of Arizona and Nevada to start sending them water.

I’ve spent the last week on a trip to Switzerland. I’m a massive James Bond fan so journeying to where the snow sequences were shot for 1969s “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” had always been a dream of mine.

Came across this circular hotel in Murren. Made me feel like I was back in Raleigh, except there didn’t appear to be a “rotating” rooftop restaurant, the building didn’t look to be in a questionable state, and I wasn’t able to determine if the owner made the best of any prior plans for the building by enrolling into a tax abatement program.

I might be a little biased, but Petco Park is one of the nicest stadiums in MLB.

In the former Ashworth Drugs, Once in a Blue Moon Bakery & Cafe is apparently moving in. Some interior progress finally after 2 years.

Lloyd’s Full Service restaurant is coming along and looking pretty good with the building restoration and outdoor seating.

The Red Phone Booth speakeasy in downtown Durham near Alley 26 is coming along. Allegedly it’s opening next month.

I wonder what could be in that crate…

Cool to see Durham getting one of these. Somewhat jealous Raleigh isn’t first, but we have a few “speakeasy” ish places downtown already. I’ve been to the one in Atlanta and almost got to the one in Plano, TX but didn’t have time.
