Looks like Quebec?

Characters.

National Assembly of Quebec, where we also had lunch inside. A little fancier than the NCGA and some cafeteria, and even has a proper water feature.

Well, they do consider it a national capitol. It looks awesome.

Also, beautiful clean new trains that are smooth, fast, and on time… With a first class section and drink and food service. O Canada!

Say what you want about a skyline’s actual importance, but it’s impressive pulling up into a city that looks like this:

Some Montreal pics, including from the top of Mount Royal.

Love Montreal. Great photos. When driving there through NY (I-87) onto Highway 15, when you get the first full clear view of the city from 15, it’s quite spectacular. With Mont Royal in the background behind the skyline. To me it’s a junior (poor man’s) version of Hong Kong with Victoria Peak. Not as stunning of course, but a similar feel.

None of those towers seem THAT much taller than what we have here (maybe the picture is deceiving). If we keep plugging away with 20-30 story towers, I wonder if we could reach a skyline similar to this someday.

Montreal has 6 buildings over 600ft tall and one over 700ft tall - MUCH taller than what we have here haha. We’d need a lot more 40-50 story towers if we ever want a skyline that robust.

I’d be happy to see more attractive buildings rise in the sky, rather than just height.

Yeah that’s always my biggest issue with the parking pedestal 10-20 story “towers” … they’re always just “generic glass box stacked on top of objectively ugly and obvious concrete parking deck with a half-assed street level facade that matches neither of the aforementioned boxes”

This looks like our city hall, but also taller

Down the road, straight shot from Raleigh, beautiful New Bern, NC’s colonial capital city. Birthplace of that other rival to Coca-Cola.

Oh wow these are some beautiful colonial houses!!! I need to visit New Bern!

I went to Bern Switzerland earlier this year. Their bear flag is all over the place there. If you do a Google search on the bear flag, you’ll see that the flag in Switzerland has a bear complete with uhm…genitalia. New Bern has largely removed that “design element” from their flag haha.

Would love to get back out to New Bern before the summer is over.

Restaurant featured in my first photo of New Bern above is a great place for lunch or dinner. In a historic car dealership building. You could even leave Raleigh in the morning spend the day there eat lunch and drive back the same day.
