Show Off Things From Other Cities

That is true but I think he was talking about the US District Court on New Bern.

Yes, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina

US Court for short hand, lol

The huge parking lot/service bay at the bottom in the above photo that takes up two prime city blocks.

Redevelopment of this block(s) has been on my DTR wishlist for a long time. I would love to see a better use of this area than a 2 story sprawling building and parking lot.

Another angle of the lot

Thanks, you can even see that triangle lot that is currently being rezoned to 20 stories from this angle, too.

I have to imagine this region has outgrown whatever federal offices have been built for it, so I would definitely be interested to see if there are plans for a bigger federal building at some point.

The two story portion used to be the main Raleigh postal sorting facility. That has since moved out near the airport off of Westgate Road. I don’t know what that area is currently used for. If it is offices, they must be miserable to work in.

I looked at the deed from the 1965 sale of the property and it appears the Raleigh Board of Education sold the property to the federal government.

I thought we were talking about the wake county courthouse, not North Carolina.

I attempted to look at the deed for the Wake County Courthouse on Fayetteville St, but I am severely challenged when it comes to reading old script documents.

I thought Hugh-Morrison High School was on that site of the current Federal Court. There might not be a hyphen there.
The County Court has been on that site forever, if not from the git-go.

I checked, there is not a hyphen.

We should stop hijacking this topic.

Here is a place that is a lot of fun in Winston Salem.

You mean Winston-Salem?

In all seriousness, where/what is that place? Might be driving through the city soon, I’d like to see that!

I believe you are correct, it is Winston-Salem. That is the court yard outside Incendiary Brewing, located at the corner of E Fifth St and N Patterson Ave.
