Sites 2 & 3, Omni CC Hotel + Tower

There’s no plans yet, so no height. Tall.

I just threw this together. I know the locations/designs are not entirely accurate, but this can give you an idea of what potentially Raleigh COULD look like.

I will refine/edit this render when I have more free time.

Looks like you have the RUSbus tower in the wrong spot though - the orange-ish colored one just to the left of the Convention Center Hotel + Tower (the tallest ones all the way to the right) - should be just to the left of the Dilllon (so FAR left in this shot). Either way, where you have it now could potentially be what that spot looks like whenever the big empty lot next to the old Enterprise is developed, so not entirely misleading. This is cool as hell though!

Fill in that gap towards the left if that N&O site ever gets a signature tower, and we’ll finally have the skyline I was looking forward to when I moved here in 2009 LOL.

I’ll make us look more exciting gives off that Central look badly a lot of rezoning have been approve. Just with the shaky economy there not getting built quick enough.

I believe that proposals have been received (second time, after the pandemic scrapped the first round) and the city is reviewing them. Hopefully they will let us see what was filed and what has been selected sometime soon.

Another gap filler is the rezoning across the convention center, NIMBY in District D in city council, i’m not gonna mention her name, wanted to hold up it up for BS reasons. Next meeting for that is April 18th that area a great place to build tall and a money shot.

I know the towers aren’t in the right spot yet. I have to spend time reworking it. But glad you appreciate it!

Haha. My dream skyline would just to move uptown Charlotte to downtown Raleigh! I lived in Charlotte for five years, and the skyline completely blows Raleigh away.

LOL perfect! I wouldn’t mind taking some of their buildings and adding them to our skyline. But Charlotte can keep some of their other city features.

Like some of their general assembly representatives?

I laugh - but I have the feeling our skyline will look more like this (albeit with less identical buildings) sooner rather than later. Like @GucciLittlePig, I expected the city to grow up into something bigger like this way quicker than it has when I moved here in 08; but then again, that was a time when everything was kinda reset and starting again from the bottom. Fast forward to 2020, and same thing - only this time, Raleigh hardly skipped a beat. With all the recent rezonings, height restrictions being removed, and the exponential population growth… it’s coming!

I don’t see Raleigh building anything significant. What makes you think it is coming soon?

Well for starters, RUS is in site-prep, that’s a 221’ and a 380’ tower. Then you have 400H (257’), Cardinal East (241’), 320 South (213’), Salisbury (265’ x2), and NH Tower 5 (238’) all under construction as we speak. That’s 7 towers over 200 feet arriving in the next 3 years. There is also 1727 S Saunders (292’), Vela (336’), 330 W Hargett (360’), Kimpton (231’), 521 South Wilmington (245’), Nash Square apartments (418’), 4006 Market (266’ and 317’), Park City Residences (237’ x2) who have submitted ASRs and are also planning to be done by 2027. That’s 16 buildings above 200 feet (that we are aware of) within the next 4 years that we don’t have now. I can imagine with all the redevelopments, and zoning changes, there will be a bunch of projects that will seek to go higher. Plus, the city’s 2 RCC towers are supposed to be of a substantial height. Even if they built to the same floor height as PNC Plaza, that would be at least 517’ per tower without any crown or spire, which I can imagine they’d add for this project.

It will transform our city, from the west down to the core just imagine what I’ll look like from Dix Park. I’ll give Chicago and New York vibes. Now the only hurdle get rid of Jane Harrison ir flip District D’s seat. That all we need to do.

could this really be blocked?

While I hope all of those buildings are going to be built, I am not optimistic they will be built to full height, especially the convention center projects. PNC Plaza is currently not tall enough to be the centerpiece of a city that is apparently growing leaps and bounds.

No it’s already zoned DX-40, now it should submitting approvals and ASR.
