One can only assume this means the project is delayed so that in 2025 they can recommend an incentive of $100 million and a construction timeline of FY2029.
I am very curious about the responses the city got to the RFP for this project. I wonder if they were satisfied with them and if we will see some of them (or at least the one they have decided on) now that public funding has been approved.
Yeah, my recollection is that the original RFI was pre-COVID and got scrapped. Then last year they released a new RFI and received responses. Earlier this year it was confirmed that the City was evaluating the responses, but we have not heard news since then. It would be very nice to get an update on this. Are they negotiating with one or more of the groups who responded, or are they unsatisfied w/ the responses?
Build it and they will come. Customers from other places! Raleigh needs more amenities to charge for parking. Get people first then build more stuff create demand then gouge then .
The original incentive was $35 million. Now that it has been updated to $75 million incentive I interpret that to mean there is no proposals submitted that meet the need of a 500 room hotel.
Maybe the now funded CC expansion will give a developer confidence to submit a proposal.
The city council at Tuesdayâs meeting September 19th will discuss spending $400,000 to start negotiate with a developer that has put in a bid for this 500 room project.
I hope next level design is included like those renderings were. I would like to see wood toned buildings and I hope theyâre 40 stories both towers. I hope this bidder is from Asia like Hong Kong or Singapore where their perfect design. I want this to be an eye-catcher appealing a city landmark.
