Sites 2 & 3, Omni CC Hotel + Tower

It’s likely around 300 feet tall—about the same height as Durham’s two 27-story towers, maybe even a bit taller since there’s no strict height restriction in feet. However, because this hotel will be wide and surrounded by other tall buildings, it might actually feel shorter. It’s interesting how perspective can change our sense of scale.

Hey that’s fine, anything 300ft or higher I will GLADLY take. Wide or not, this will still add some drastic height variation to that end of Fayetteville.

Anyone know if they send out another RFP for the adjacent lot?

Wasn’t this originally supposed to break ground in 2025, or was that my imagination? Looks like 2026 now.

Our 25 story Westin hotel in uptown Charlotte is 293 feet tall and the first 2 or 3 floors are higher than the others which the room floors are probably only 10 feet tall. But I would say at 27 floors this one should break 300 feet in Raleigh.

Should be the tallest hotel in the state until the Intercontinental Hotel is built in Charlotte atop the Carolina Theater. It has not started but is supposed to soon.

Man I wish this was starting sooner!

I love that a sports bar is going to be included with the Omni. There are a decent number of sports bars in/around downtown, but not really one of any genuine scale unless you go to Sport & Social at Fenton (although Brass Tap may change that soon). Will be a great addition to that end of Fayetteville St.

People say that the design is boring!

Totally agree. The Ale House on Glenwood is the only other sports bar of scale I can think of in downtown right now. I’m curious if any of the new sports bars will add any local chapters of outside sports teams to follow?

You’d think they would. There are so many transplants in the Triangle, and it’s an easy way to immediately get momentum.

I see more Bills gear than I do Panthers gear around these parts… dare I say Raleigh/Triangle is a Bills Country annex at this point. Point being: we need a f**king BILLS BAR asap. And no, I’m not driving up Capital to go to the gross Buffalo Wild Wings or whatever :face_vomiting:

I was about to complain about how the Texas watch parties were always deep in RTP, but it seems this year they’ve moved to Edit, which is at least inside 540. A vast upgrade over the infinite sea of sad suburban chain sports bars.

Bills fans gather at the Bridesmaid Bar, on Never Street. Panthers party ongoing.

City Council Meeting November 19th will discuss more about this project.
